  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

LEICA R on RED: Pictures

Have any of you experienced purple/ green fringing in hi contrast out of focus parts of the image with your Leica R's while shooting wide open? I've been playing around with my 35 f2 and 50 1.4 and it's been popping up. It's making me wonder if they need to go in for maintenance.

Abe Espinoza

I have seen it in several lenses. Don't think this means it needs maintenance..

I don't think there's 1 lens in the world that performs perfect wide open. Especially in high contrast areas or very highlight next to very dark areas. If anyone knows of any such lens I really like to know. There are some better than others.

I just hadn't noticed it before on these same lenses & had the pelican case they were in dropped from a good distance so was wondering.

Great stuff being posted in here guys, keep it coming.

In in terms of chromatic aberration, most lenses with fast apertures display CA around light sources, ect when trying to resolve that type of image.

The he further you move from the center apertures the more you can introduce various types of artifacting, CA, diffraction and other stuff that pops up depending on coatings, etc.

Finally got my dragon in and couldn't wait to check it out with my new Leica R's (Thanks Mark M!)

More coming soon (hopefully with a better looking subject!)

Dr. Dominik I like your style. I'll put the object though a little bit off to the right or to the left.
Is the 60mm macro as good as the 100mm? Any r3d's
Thanks

thanks sir, I havent had a chance to try the 100mm but from what I got to shoot with the 60mm so far its an insanely good lens, the minimum focus distance is amazing and the look this lens produces just out of this world.
I can upload a few R3Ds tomorrow no problem.

Beautiful shots Dominik!
Just wrapped a shoot in Byron Bay with the Leica R.
Light can be really difficult around here but when it's on it's amazing!
