LEICA R on RED: Pictures

Beautiful. Welcome to the Leica Addiction Support Group.

Did you have to step on the color much with the Low Light OLPF?

Great shots everyone!

Thought I'd share some test shots I did a few weeks ago.

Leica R 80 1.4 on the Dragon LLO

I've also seen some discussion as far as mounts and conversions. I've tried Letiax and a few other adapters personally. And found I wasn't able to focus to infinity. Instead I bought an actual Leica R mount. And it works perfectly. I got mine from Cinemods.

thanks Mark, not at all, I dont really see much difference in color or white balance with the low light OLPF.

Thankd for for joining the party! Keep posting!
Great stuff.

Yes, the focus can be adjusted with the leitax adapters and the Iris don't remain the same either, but they can be adjusted.

Cheers

I didn't post that much picture here but I've been watching this thread at least every week since David created it... Addictive!

I'll be less lazy (on some points not all) in 2015 and to prove it here are a couple of pics shot last year.

Shot in Kona, HI with Dragon, STHOLPF, in 6K WS at 100fps with the 35 Summilux at f 2.8, ISO set at 320, shutter at 180°.
This was a few minute after sunset and even if the sky still seems orange and clear on that shot, it was already too dark for our shoot.
We used a 5600K Led Panel from F&V to provide a bit of fill from the left.

This one was shot in Taipei, Taiwan, in the middle of the street with the Epic MX in 5K WS at 120fps with the 50 Summilux at f 4.0, ISO set at 800, shutter at 180°.
That sequence didn't make the cut because it was to dark when we shot it.
As you can see, street lightnings are already switched on and it was a few minute before total darkness.
No additional light, just the one from the shop, it was raining all afternoon even if we don't see the water drops on that picture.
Actually it was raining for ten days, the entire duration of our shoot, never spent that much time wet in my clothes but it was still an amazing souvenir.
Taipei is a cool city and the food you find at every street corner is just pure happiness...

This job was all about motion, extracting stills was not a goal at all as a proper photographer was on assignment for our client but I'm stoked to be able to pull out some pics as a souvenir.

I said I tried to be less lazy in 2015 but I didn't feel like grading those pictures, this is what they look straight out of the camera, except the DEB in RCX for the Dragon shot...
No Photoshop this time...
Sometimes it's good to just check our stuff the way we shot them or this is just an excuse for my laziness ;)

Vincent man that was uplifting :)

Please post motion of these, Im dying to see them at least in HD ;)

Killer.

Vincent. Aren't those FV 1x1 amazing for a little daylight fill. I slap a v lock on one of those and everything gets elevated! I have 4 of them now.

Nice stuff!

Hello all,
does anyone have examples or experience to share using the Leica Rs on an Epic with Canon Motion Mount?
Love this thread and hope to be contributing with some material very soon :)
Thanks!

Thanks Eric, if I find enough time, it would be a great idea to release those ones, even privately as my client won't let me make this public.

That shot on the scooter is fantastic, what a great look !

Thanks Dominik, really appreciated!
Your recent shots with your new lenses let me speechless, what a great way to test those Leicas!

The threads really heating up with all this great stuff from Dom and Vincent.

nice stuff guys.

Grazie mille David.

These F&V 1x1 are the best bang for buck! As you said, combined with a V-Mount batterie, they still remain super light and they're a great addition to any shoot.
I can't wait to combine those with the Led spools ordered via the Reduser Group Buy.

I've uploaded better Jpegs of these shots in my first post, too much compression on those I first uploaded.

Wow, great work guys! There's certainly something very special about this glass that's hard to put your finger on but 'you know it when you see it' ;)

Mmmm, the 60 Macro was my first/gateway Leica R and still a favorite.
Stopped down its said to be sharper than both the 50 Cron and 50 Lux.
The 28 is underrated too...Excellent images!

I haven't even finished building my contax set yet, but I took the plunge and won a 50 cron on ebay! :) excited to try it out.
