LEICA R on RED: Pictures

First evening with 35 Lux

I've recently purchased a set of Leica R's (19, 28, 35, 50, 90, 135, 180) and I'm wondering how or if people use their matte boxes with the lenses which telescope when focused.

Just with a donut that is forgiving enough. I haven't had too many issues. On the longer lenses where the telescoping is the worst it isn't typical to focus from nearest to infinity anyway.

How's that 28? I really want it. And the 60. And the 180. And the zooms.

The 28 and the 35 are my favorite so far, but the 28 arrived with a focus problem - the focus ring was behaving weirdly when I started using it and now it's actually stuck, so I'll need to get that looked at before I can shoot more with it. Can anyone recommend a good place for service on these?

Duclos for sure.

FYI: if you own rare and prized still lenses and are lucky enough to be in Los Angeles Steve is the guy you want to see. He'll take them apart, clean them up, and put them back together. The service isn't cheap but it's the best in the West Coast.

Thanks David. This is from an experimental short I shot. Will post final piece here in March when I'm back in Detroit.

For anyone in Europe.

i have a wonderful service gentleman in Florence who has done a really nice job on all my lenses.

I'll be posting some stuff shortly. Here's one from a short I just finished shooting. This was written and directed by Mike and Dan Palermo. No real CC yet. These are straight from RCX.
