I'd love to snag some small, low weight primes for my new Epic-W and love the feel of the classic Zeiss lenses (even the new Loxia lenses for Sony). Seems like the ZM line in Leica M Mount is perfect. For example, the Zeiss 35mm ZM (https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/prod...1365_659_35mm_f_2_ZM_Biogon.html/prm/alsVwDtl).

However, I've read conflicting reports that many of the M-Mount lenses (both from Leica or Zeiss) aren't compatible with the Red cameras and Red M-mounts. At least not below 50mm (I use a lot of 24mm and 35mm lenses). Is this true? Does anyone have a list of M-Mount lenses that do work on Red?

Thanks!

Thanks Kalum!

Yea - it's hard to tell what works and what doesn't work. IT seems that most of the lenses in the M-Mount above 50mm work just fine, but the wider angle lenses do not. Unfortunately, I use a lot of 21mm and 35mm on Super35 sensors.

Would be great if there were a list of what works and what doesn't - especially in the Zeiss ZM and Leica M line.

There are some m mount lenses in that range that work, there is vignetting and purple smearing to varying degrees on all lenses wider than 50mm above super 35.
Additional lenses fit with modification and leica is coming out with a custom olpf frame for Reds.

That said, it can be a cool look. I personally only have an m mount on my scarlet and have Voigtlander 15mm (modified), 40mm, and 75mm.

Heard varying success with new dsmc2 bodies with the older olpf design, be sure to check that out.

I have a brand new, unused Leica-M mount for RED camera for sale if anyone is looking for one.

What kind of modification to that 15mm Voightlander?

The new OLPF has a different glare stop which reduces the space even more. I suspect it can be modified but i wasn't going to both but if you've managed to get a 15mm working i am interested again...?

cheers

The rear lens guard is ground down about .5 mm
