Hi

Not sure if anyone has posed this question yet, but is there currently available or is anyone out there making a splitter cable that will allow you to have an LCD and EVF connected at the same time? Would the Epic even support a dual output like this?

It would be great to have the EVF connected and then be able to adjust settings on the LCD at the same time.

Thanks,
Neil

I was wondering this myself. The RED ONE always allowed You to have both the EVF for the DoP and the LCD for focus-puller and/or the director. It seams that Epic will need the PRO I/O module for this. The only other alternative is HDMI. Maybe - and just maybe - they could make a cable adaptor to connect the LCD to the HDMI port. You would loose the ability to control some functions via the LCD - but that is a small price to pay, as You would simply control this with the EVF. Unless this happens - you will see people buying up non-RED HDMI monitors to use for this purpose...

I asked about the possibility of making a cable to go from the HDSDI and Dtap or something to red monitor in another thread and didn't get an answer.... It seems like it should be possible though..?

I just got answer from RED - as nice and easy as it sounds - it is not possible as the RED LCD resolution is not compatible with HDMI apparently...

Another way would be to make a super slim module that would add secondary monitoring port. This would not add too much bulk or weight. This is definitely doable - the only question is whether they could fit it into their busy roadmap and schedule. I am sure there would be sufficient demand for this...

Rather than a module, surely it would be easier, cheaper and lighter to get a cable that attaches at the front and can support dual cables? Not sure if power-wise the cables can support both LCD and EVF at the same time...but surely something like the below could work.

Most likely you would blow the power supply and splitting a HDMI-like signal is not going to work reliable.....

There would both be a signal-strength issue and a power issue. I'm quite sure the camera isn't designed to provide power for both an EVF and LCD. Wait for the Pro I/O or get a HD-SDI monitor. It's not like they cost a million these days.
