One of the editors for "Law and Order SVU" just posted on Twitter that it has switched to the RED cameras. Can anyone here confirm this??

EDIT: 09/24/2009. It is actually being shot on the Panavision Genesis camera.

I had heard a little over a year ago that another law and order (the original, I think) was testing the RED but decided to go another route at the last minute. So not terribly surprising if another L&O went RED.

i think the editor is mixed up.

well they did stop shooting film, we were shooting digital, just not red... heres a clip from the genesis on set.

Given the change in workflow for RED footage...one would think a professional editor would have some clue as to where the footage originated especially since they only went to a digital camera system with the new season.

But I've been often surprised by how little the post guys and gals know about the camera systems being used...

Their can be lots of lack of knowledge amongst editors. I know many awesome cutters who don't know alot about these things. A goof assistant handles all the technical stuff and the editor may simply cut. Obviously alot of editors know a Ron of the technical stuff too. But knowledge of bits and bites is not a prerequisite for good cutting

The really annoying thing is that many of them think they do.

Law and Order SVU is shot on Genesis using SSR recorders as is Law and Order. Your editor friend is misinformed.

I guess someone must have corrected her. Here is the editor's latest twitter:

ooops! I made a big error last night. I stated that we were using the RED Camera, I meant to say the Panavision Genesis Camera. That is making our show look so good!
