I sincerely hope those who just recently purchased a V-Raptor VV (within the month, at least) are given an option to not have to dish out an additional $12,500 for the upgrade program. Highly unlikely... but I can still have hope, for now.

Okay, cool! I was never much of a fan of V-Raptor but adding the global shutter and the recent firmware updates have definitely brought the camera up to speed. I'm not sure if it's going to be used for our next feature but it's certainly a consideration.

They ditched the DSMC2 (Monstro, etc.) when all the previous camera models/sensors were offered the obsolescence obsolete program starting the DSMC1.

I would have paid to follow the train... Too bad I'm stuck with the DSMC2.

It would have been nice to include us in the upgrade path options.

I wouldn't even upgrade as a DMSC3 user knowing that it might be ditched when DSMC4 is released. It created a precedent that I'm not ready to forget. Better sell it on my own? The price dropped from 80K to 10K in weeks. Horror.

they end of lifed the Ranger Gemini 2months after it's announcement and release, as part of the outgoing DSMC2 series. i did not see quite the drop Monstro buyers did. but it was a precedent that was going on, even pre pandemic.

Have you seen the kits selling on the marketplace and facebook groups? The camera brain was almost a free bonus. It dropped 60-70% by the Raptor-X announcement before it was even released.

yes, it was insanity. I know of a few people that got hit by that. even people who bought used were upset. that's how bad it was.

you and i both know how this goes though.

Ahh hopefully we can see some Phil OTUS footage sometime... with the new tool!
He's the man.
If people have the kind of money to spend on those cameras, then they should have no complaints.

If you have over 19k to spend on a camera, you should be very happy with whatever you get, and the value of the camera should either pay for itself OR last many years. I had the Epic-W and had the pandemic not happened I would still be very happy with it today, nearly 6-7 years later. As one who now CANNOT afford a $19K camera, I don't feel bad for anyone who can and then who has complaints. You have 19 thousand dollars to blow on a camera and you have complaints, then maybe the camera (or awesome camera company) is not the problem..
Never thought of it like that. thanks Andrew!

Global shutter for the S35 Rhinos should be next on the table and unify the lines, of course, but then I guess it depends on how the Rhinos are doing as I hardly ever hear anything about them. Again, all the updates and now the global shutter makes the V-Raptor a bigger consideration for me as a camera option going forward, so this is a good move for my use case, however, a S35 version compared to a FF version doesn't tick the box for me and I feel the same way about Sony cameras doing this with the S35 FX30 and FF FX3 as an example, it's going to be the FX3 every time.
