  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Curtis, see if you like this skintone.

Will your expander work with other lenses?

You mention your expander will work best with this lens. Why?

Looking like a nice lens.

Jake, theoretically yes.

Adding additional glasses into the optics design will inevitably affect the optical performance of the lens. On some aberrations, maybe a plus and some other aberrations, maybe a minus. Since the expander is specially designed with our OOOM, its designed to offset and complement the weakness and strengths of our OOOM and so the image performance will not be affected.

Guys, take a look at this sleek and clean commercial shot by Bob Gundu with Weapon Dragon 6K & OOOM.

This is another type of gigs where our OOOM will shine.

Any thoughts on how the OOOM compares to the DZO Film set? Obviously one lens instead of two, but the cost for the pair is similar to the OOOM and has somewhat similar specs with a little bigger range between the two zoom lenses? Do the OOOM lenses have floating elements to reduce breathing?

Hello Jake,

Theorectically yes.

Reason why it works best with OOOM is because.. everytime you put 2 independent optics system together into 1, aberrations will be introduced into the optics system. Sometimes its good and sometimes its bad. It all comes down to whether the added optics system (in our case , the expander) is designed to offset/or boost certain type of aberrations. In our case, the expander was designed with the OOOM together, meaning the expander is designed in order to "correct" the bad aberrations of the lens. So in some areas, the expander may even give a boost of performance. This is similar to the case of using speedbooster.

To put it in simpler terms, if the lens itself has a +5 chromatic aberrations , -3 distortions, +2 Astigmatism, the best case is to design the adapter to have -5 chromatic abberations , +3 distortions , -2 astigmatism to make it a perfect lens.

Hope above makes sense.

Hi Jon,

I personally have not tested the DZOs and i can only comment based on specs. Our initial objective is to bring out a lens with extended range for filmmakers to have a all-in-one lens which suits different types of productions and have a certain look that we strived for. The comprehensive 4x zoom range is on the top of our requirement list. We can of course design lenses with smaller range, lighter weight, best sharpness but this is not our plan. So at the end of the day, i believe both lenses serve different groups of people.

Yes. if you are familiar with our product line (photo line-up), basically all lenses that we made (including the OOOM) are floating design, this has to be done in order to have the best optical performance. And the zero to no focus breathing is one of the main feature of our lens. Hope it helps!

Not yet.. still shooting. Will share soon.

Any word on when some native RF mount lenses will be available? That 9mm sounds rather appealing for the Komodo.

We are shipping in a few weeks time. 9mm T2.9, 15mm T2.1 and 12mm T2.9 RF mounts.

@kevin do you have anymore 25-100 lenses available for testing? really considering one for our rental house, but gotta put it through the paces first.

Just shot you a message in Fb!

One of the most distinct feature of the OOOM is the range. We are trying to design an all-in-one lens with a 4x zoom factor where people can only use one for different types of gigs.
