Laowa 12mm vs 95mm filters

Hello there, I've ran into an issue with my Laowa 12mm Zero-D Cine PL and 95mm screw-on filters. Mine came with a 95mm thread, but the filter I've got (Freewell 95mm Vari-ND 2-5 stops) doesn't seem to fit on the lens. The front element of the lens protrudes so much to the front that it does seem like it's hitting the filter and doesn't let the filter thread to catch-up.

Has anyone experienced the same issue with Laowa? I know I can fit a mattebox, but I wanted to use a 95mm instead on a RS2 setup because of the weight and balance issues.

I haven't used either the lens or this filter, but I'd think that a solution might be getting a 95mm to 95mm extension adapter. I know Simmod offers some, but doesn't seem to have them in 95mm-- might be worth reaching out. A quick search of B&H didn't turn one up, but it may go by another name. Otherwise, google turns up this from a British company:

I haven't tested with the Farewell one but i guess the thickness of the Vari ND does matter for ultra wide with bulgy front element. I do have a H&Y Revoring Vari ND 82-95mm sample here and it fits pretty well mechanically.
