quick question - what do you use to label camera and studio gear?

I had one of those stand-alone Dymo units with metallic ruban, which lasted ok on most
surfaces but creating the labels was a long and tedious process and I got
a PC/Mac connected Dymo 450

the label creating and printing is easy and fast, but the labels suck, ok for office stuff
but stuck on anything metal they fall off within a week.

any suggestions, don't really feel like going through a month long shoot-out for
a lablel printer...

While that would be a fun tool to have, it would be very annoying to laser engrave the wrong label on your lens at some 3am camera prep... something more forgiving might be needed
