Why do you need to covert raw? Can you share information that 4K RGB SDI will be disabled while writing R3D? If not, you always have it on, as long as you have battery on camera. It's not a SDI connector that converts, it's inside of a camera.Maybe, but you need to convert RAW data to RGB in order to encode ProRes so it would add up, not replace.
Nowadays, with a relatively up to date machine, you can edit natively R3D at least in 6K and below, without too much issues so I personally don't need ProRes on Komodo... But I get that for some it could be a nice option. (have it in an external recorder... Most of them are monitors too anyways so...)
Very cheap recoders can write ProRes. Media inside of a camera is bullet proof against timecode, sound, interference of radioways, cabling issues. Red was always Apple friendly in some way or another. The only question is data flow.
Having to work on some "home-brew" project doesn't always pay the bills. Working for somebody is reality of being "professional". Sometimes production companies insist on shooting with a codec with "fast" turnaround. Editing or colouring bays try to change gear as slow as possible. They sell their hours not gear. So then shooting for somebody else you need to meet their requirements. If camera that you are passionate about could do it, you are in luck.
