When KOMODO comes out and we want to utilize RED DRAGON in the future or HELIUM how easy is it to combine the systems together? Can KOMODO be strapped to the brain of the RED DRAGON or HELIUM? Is there an attachment?

You need to consider that the DSMC2 line needs to be unobstructed at the top for proper ventilation.
As Luke pointed out, there is a way.
You can attach a NATO rail or cheese handle and then attach a quick release plate like the GDU Touch & Go on top of it so you can mount the Komodo to it.
I dunno how that's gonna balance on a gimbal or steadi rig, but there you have it!

Our reason to have it attached is If you wanted to use 2 separate cameras at the same time for different angles

Hi I apologize for the confusion. We were saying if KOMODO could be attached on top of the camera body. If we were using the Red Dragon or Ranger for the body and Komodo attachment on top of it where we get the same shot from two different cameras perspective. Not two different angles my mistake.

We would be using different lenses. A lens on the Komodo and a lens on the camera it is attached to such as the Red Dragon or Ranger

Appreciate everyone's help! We still have a lot to learn on our end so thanks for being patient with us

Yep, same thing -- camera angle refers to the location and orientation of the camera, which determines the perspective. In other words, you're recording nearly the same perspective since the two cameras are in nearly the same spot.

What Justin ask for is actually very useful at times. Especially with a camera like Komodo that has zero rolling shutter.

For example put a ultra vide lens on the Komodo and a longer lens on the main cam. Then the plate from the Komodo can be used for 3D tracking. And even more so having two cameras from almost the same angle also improves the accuracy of the 3D track.

Then offcourse you could do it to get different framings, safety exposure etc. etc.

But yes, the camera angles will not differ much if the camera is put right on top of each other.

Here I did the trick with a go pro. Basically the big ana lens is not the best for 3D tracking and its a 50mm so not so wide. The Gopro works as a scratch mic and 3D tracking witness camera and does so very well as the sensor is so small and the lens so wide it gives a crisp sharp image while the ana lens gives a more DOF:ed out image with would render very poor 3D tracking results, especially for closeups / tight shots.

After seeing your previous post of this image I actually tried it. Bought a gopro quick clip thing (think it's made for attaching to cap peaks) and attached it to my lens hood. Found it quite useful for scratch audio, and reassuring to know I had a wide safety shot that gives a sense of the environment. Example below from GoPro and Dragon.

Your pictures look wonderful. We're very happy with everyone's input. We'll try it with and without KOMODO attached and see what does and doesn't work. Just plan on taking it for a test ride nothing too heavy-duty. Hope everyone's staying safe, healthy and productive.

Best Regards

Justin
