Wow this is great. Wondering how the AF is and if/how the gyro data can be used in editing software? Great to see that Red can advance the older system while releasing newer hardware.

Is it possible for Red to allow the buttons to be mapped to functions like “punching in” to check focus or activate AF? I think the X has this ability. Would be great to see it added to the Komodo.

Yes, I, too, am most interested in how the AF works under this build.

As I live and breath… finally a release version!

Jarred did the rope 'a dope, said Komodo OG had squeezed out all it could on the most recent Komodo X video. He's a sly one for sure. Thanks for the upgrade.

This upgrade is essentially the release version of the beta that was available since December last year
and yes it is an upgrade that truly enhances using Komodo.
I'm thankful this was made available but I do hope Komodo still gets additional and meaningful upgrades.

A 3K S16 mode with corresponding frame rates, 5K 16:9, more complete slow shutter features, the teased AI AF, among others would
still be welcome features.

While I plan to eventually get KX I still have further plans to use my 2 Komodos.

There is nothing obsolete about what Komodo offers but it still needs some continued development
to reach the promise of what was started.
Like many great things in life the magic comes out in the refinement.

I quite agree. Nothing is more indicative of the commitment of a manufacturer (or lack thereof) than to abandon development of a popular product when a newer product is released. Apple discredited themselves when they abandoned Final Cut for a more "commercialized" version. I will never invest in another RED camera if they choose to abandon their product development of the Komodo OG. Continuing development is consistent with the premium cost of RED hardware. Technology evolution is the only reason to abandon product development and support. I don't think Komodo-X is a significant improvement in product technology, it's merely an upgrade.

Final Cut 7 was supported waaaay longer than I ever thought it would be. Komodo is nearing the end of the road, though I'd still like a S16 crop mode as well. What else are we holding out for at this point?

Good Luck
