ChrismarieKelly_EPIC%20M8.jpg

hheehe .... in the right hands, everything shot on EPIC seems to turn into gold ... ;-)

Hey Ketch,
I can't believe people aren't eating up your first cine style clip posted....well let me say I think it looks amazing!! Please keep the awesome footage and BTS coming! Thanks!

hi ketch, it does look really filmic, skin tones are nice. girls and setting are beautyful.

but its so ultrasharp that the skin itself of the girls doesnt look so good. i mean, you can see the make up and skinproblems.especially in the close ups.

is it the combo of 5k and MP`s? are master primes too sharp?

(no pun intended here, just want to know, why you didnt use a difusion filter or some post magic to blur the skin a little bit? or if you used it and its still too sharp?)

edit: i am no cinematographer, so asking here to learn :)

The filmic look was do to a crashing of the blacks and illuminating with only One Briese, not a good way to do this ;)

So, my question is, because of that situation, did you use HDRx to aid, or did you want to see how far you could push the native DR and latitude?

This was a Fashion shoot Test, and for this type of work actually you never can have in off Sharpness, and in fact we were
not as happy as we wanted to be, as we did not had a Focus Puller and doing it all ourselves with camera in movement at
fast Apertures did not aways give the bets results.

In our next Fashion Shoots will be even sharper and well expose to really bring up al the detail in the eyes and skin,
remember this are meant for passing Thru PHOTOSHOP for Magazine Print ;)

HDRx was not used simply because there was no Extreme lighting differences in the room, all was light up by one Single Briese 1200 HMI with a large Diffused Parabolic.

Ketch, what are you using for a Hoodman for the Red 5.0 touchscreen LCD?

Did this cause issues with being able to actually use the touch-screen functions, Steve?

Using an LCD shade is necessarily a trade off between getting the screen shaded, but in the process somewhat hindering the quick use of the touch screen. Once the camera is setup for a shot, I'm not usually using the touch screen again until I'm either tweaking that setup, or setting up for another shot. Even if I'm slightly restricted from using the touch screen quite as easily, I still have quick access to the camera menus and functions through the Redmote and/or the Side Handle.

In the only current option of manual shooting with PL mount lenses the need to access the touch screen quickly isn't nearly as frequent as it will be when using 35mm still lenses on the new smart mounts - where for certain shots I'll want to use auto focus. When it come to that, and I want to use the touch screen, I'll probably take an LCD hood and trim it down in depth so that I still get pretty good shading on the LCD, but my fingers can still easily reach the LCD surface to work the touch screen. That will be a low-tech solution to a high-tech feature :)

Once the smart mounts are available, and the need to get to the touch screen increases, I'm sure the fastest field techniques and accessories for that will become quickly apparent.

Can a stylus be used on the touchscreen, Steve?

Doing some kind of trimming to a Hoodman is probably a good idea, Steve. I might do that.

Pretty sure it was mentioned it's fixed glass, and capacitive (like an iPhone), rather than pressure-based.

Then a capacitive stylus should work, and allow operation of a hooded touchscreen without a hand blocking the operator's view.

Those capacitive stylus pens work great with the iPad. Really nice when it's -10F and we don't want to take off the mittens. They're a little short and fat to hold like chopsticks for multi-touch, though. ;) I'm searching for one with a finer tip to use in drawing apps where a big fat finger or stylus nub isn't the best answer.

when THIS is a videoish look, i am a new fan of video.
