  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

KETCH ROSSi Cine Style Shooting Epic M8

Better. Way better.
There's alot of room for us to make it very flexible.
Coming after we wrap up some other features first.

Oooo! Thanks for chiming in, Deanan!

Can't wait to see what we can do with it. Being able to hold the shutter open for 60+ seconds would be fantastic for evening time-lapse work. Dare I request a bulb mode for as long as we want? :)

Excited!

I'm not saying I doubt the Red stuff is worth the money, I'm sayin' I don't got the money.

That's an important distinction. Seems to be going around.

Wasn't the shoulder rig in the $1,295 neighborhood once? I know its all subject to changing... just seems like a whopper of a jump.

not that I remember... remember the old non-quick release base plate with 2 universal plates is $900 alone ( same price as ET's similar base plate and rod supports ). This is the much more badass DSMC QR version of that original base plate.

bit of a breakdown of just the shoulder rig for you:

The Complete Shoulder Rig ( it's called the "Clutch" btw ) is $5195 and includes the QR Dovetail universal plate, DSMC Universal top Mount, Double ball-joint handles, Set of Dogbones, 19mm carbon Rod, 19mm Dogbone link, shoulder pad, rear pad and assembly, chest pad and assembly, and Nato Top Rail. Everything is machined... trust me, this is a good deal.

Ketch, have you heard anything about a top handle for Epic? I think a really light-weight one would be ideal. The one you had on your Epic is just a Red One part, right?

Epic is so small, compact and light, it kind of makes you rethink accessories, with an eye toward keeping weight down.

Thanks for the breakdown. Don't know where I got that number. The rig is fantastic and yes, that's a great price for all that's included. Machined is huge plus.

That top handle Ketch has is the new DSMC top handle..

Ketch...I know you are super busy...Was interested in the weight on the epic with the red zoom, card reader, and battery (no handle or matte box). Trying to spec a RC helicopter design that will carry the epic in a "skinny" version for aerial filming...?

If you get a chance, would be interested in "field" weight.

Ah, I thought Ketch had told me that was a Red One handle for some reason.

So is this a typical/recommended configuration for the handle and LCD?

PS... is anyone else having trouble seeing Ketch's photos of the shoulder rig? They won't load on either of my computers.

Tom,

I believe what Jarred is saying is that this is the new top handle (pictured)

During your Salton Sea shoot, it appears that you guys were using the older Red One top handle on top of an ET riser.

Hmm...looks like you guys have been having tons of fun with Epic M8 this week. I think I'll drive on down to California tomorrow for a few days and get re-acquainted with the camera :-)

Wow, I didn't know that a Lensbaby could come with a PL mount. That's really cool!

They don't sell the GL (control freak) version in PL mount anymore but I did just see a GL on Ebay a few days ago. Now they only sell the Muse version in PL mount. I just got mine a few days ago and love it.
