Hi all,

Im using Cineslider & Revolution head with Oracle controller for timelapse. But this is always not accurate on the end point.(even pan/tilt or slide)

And shaky.(always on slide)

Anyone have the same problem like me and how did you fix it?

Thanks in advice.

When you say end point what do you mean sorry? I have all the Kessler gear and love it. I did have problems with shake after a few years of use which Kessler replaced the bearings in the cart. Maybe you have play in the cart? There is a video on their website to adjust it.
If you want precise moves everytime with you may want to buy the cinedrive.
Hope this post is of some use as I usually am pretty useless :)

contact Kessler anyway and send them a video of your problems and they will help you. Some if the best customer service I've received.

Yu-

I'm sure you're doing this, but make sure that when you record and save the movements on the Oracle controller prior to your shoot, that the weight and angles are the same or as close to the real thing as possible. I used to have a similar issue but I used to record the movements without camera etc. Once I did everything like the real deal it was fine. Very precise.

Thanks for your reply Owen.

I use smartlapse. For example this is panning from 0 degree to 15 degree for the Revolution Head on one hour. But this is always stop at the 11 degree.

I had email to Joel from Kessler crane. He recommend me to try 85(speed) for the Revolution Head and 180(speed) for the Cineslider. But never will be 100% accurate because of the analog system, they usually see around 97-98%.

In my experience, this is more accurate on 85(speed) at Revolution Head but shaky. If you turn down to around 50(speed) the shaky is find and accurate around 70%. (for one hour time-lapse run)

So I need to test and confirm every time for the best result. If I want pan from 0 to 15 degree.I need to set from 0 to 18-9 degree something like that. Then wait one hour for make sure the framing and adjust again etc......(If two hours run, will be a bit different)

Maybe this is my problem. Please advice anytime.:)

Thanks

On the older revolution heads I try to keep my lens bellow 40mm (i.e. 35 mm) on rotations, 50mm lenses and above i get stepper motor jitter(i think the motors are just not geared very high, my gut feel is they are the "100" motors - i btw think there were different batches of motors on the revolution heads). On the slider, as long as you pick one of the motors above 100 gearing you will not see any stepper motor jitter. For very low jitter on rotation I use the kessler table head motor(has basically no jitter).

Marcos,

I was recording with the real shooting equipment.Mean same size and weight. But this is not precise. If you are playback for a more hour(ex:2 hours),that will be more not precise.
How much speed you are using for pan and tilt?

Thanks

Hi Patrick,

On your revolution head I think the problem is about the belt loose.I had this problem too and I sent back to Kessler for repair(even i just use in few times). Now is great for me without accurate.Even i'm using 80-200 lens.
Still little jitter on my Cineslider but lower speed can fix.Again, without accurate.

I really expect that will 100% accurate. Now I need to test every locations and find tune for accurate before a real take.Every fine tune will take at lease half hour depends on your shots. That means this is not reliable.
I love to test everything and use to it every equipment.
But Im a user too,I hope this is help, reliable then create a nice shot from my head. Not only for verification the professional of equipment.

Thanks
Yu
