  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Just spoke to Red Europe....

I've ordered with a european (norwegian) billing address, but the delivery address is i New Jersey, USA (It will be shipped to me through a middle person).
Am I a european or american customer?

Have they taken a deposit? If so you are a US customer.

I'm not sure how anyone can be complaining about a 'delay' two days before shipping even potentially starts?

and now it is ok to complain ???
complainers in advance seems to be rigtht
:-)))

Don't really want to argue with you dude. With the best will in the world, 'shipping starts 1st December' was never going to equal the magical arrival of every camera all at once overnight. RED may be red, but they're not Santa Claus ;) Nonetheless, if you made it your business to order in a really timely way, I'm sure there will be toys in time for christmas :)

hopefully nobody is misunderstanding me...

no i do not complain :-)

i´m awaiting patiencely my new baby and give everyone at red us an red uk all the time they need for setting up for a new dimension of business. i can imagine how much the work there must be grow up to a not expected dimension - after the release of the scarlet :-)

maybe christmas will be a little later this year (or next), but christmas will come. for shure :-)))

cheers.

If they simply put up a realistic press release and be honest and keep people informed - or simply email everyone - they wouldn't cause so much confusion. RED should be able to mathmaticaly calculate when everyone should expect their scarlet to arrive by. Time management gentlemen. manufacturer to RED > RED to Customer - they KNOW the numbers. So offer us a delivery expected date. Is that too hard to give?

I love the new comers they saying loud taboos (shipping delay, info, ...ect) when they are pissed off and they are not worried to endure the flaming RED fan answers...
Hehe

Anyway, we don't have all infos in our hands.
They are pretty slammed as there is a lot more orders than they had expected.
They also said that all manufactured products will be fully ramped up Febuary 2012. We just have to let them enhance their Irvine facility...
I'm sure it's progressing fast each weeks and each months
Soon, we won't talk anymore about the delay problem ...

But for now we just have to wait and be patient. I know it's hard ! It's always hard when you wait for great thing to come ...

Yes, because the first law of manufacturing is this: don't expect anything to go as planned. Shit happens. I'm not even talking earth shattering shit like the Japan quake or the floodings in Taiwan - I'm talking simpler stuff like a temporary delay in parts or an off day in manufacturing. I'm talking shipping delays and fall throughs in order handling. Too optimistic expectations. The list goes on and on... simply put, it's not that simple or we would easily have gotten a date by now.

Disclaimer: I haven't handled anything on the scale of Scarlet production, mostly I do franchising stuff and mass production of items like plushies -- even there stuff like the above happens all the time. It's easier, since we can source the parts elsewhere - I imagine RED really can't most of the time and have to simply hope for the best.

you know what Canon rep are saying "off" when they come and see rental house, customers, DP, ...
The C300 will be delivered at time, just take a look on how many Scarlets are delivered, you won't have this kind of problems when you deal with us. We are professional and we know how important is the shipping delay and clear info for professionals and we respect that.... we respect our clients...

So I will say something which has been already said:
I'd rather wait for a delayed great product to arrive instead of having right away a product without any soul...

a little more information from red europe would be nice..

BUT nobody who runs a business hires a couple 100 people just to cope with initial demand for a new product...
after the first rush they would be sitting around dusting off accessories... weighting heavy on the payroll..
this market is very small, and once saturated, there is not a lot more people to sell to.

canon can easily slip the c300 into a running manufacturing process and rely on a big staff to handle demand.
and i don`t think that the demand for the c300 is really high :-)

would be really interesting to know how many scarlets have been ordered, how many red ones where ever sold, and how many of them turned into epics.
from what i`ve been told arri made 1500-2000 435s over almost 20 years!
if you consider that this camera had no competitor, you get a sense for the size of the "pro camera market"...
