Dino,

I see in the "workout" shots there is some diffusion used. Was this a choice made in-camera or in post? Was it to differentiate between the workouts and the other scenes or was there another aesthetic or technical reason? Or does it just appear to be diffusion but is really the effect of the whites blowing out?

we shot this two or three months ago, so i don't remember everything other than i think the outside was so blown out that it created this effect. i was not that excited about this location, but i guess it all came together rather last minute, so it was the best they could find...with more money and time i am sure they would have chosen a location with less blown out areas and the grips would have spent more time knocking everything down, it was a very hectic schedule, and we easily could have used another day to do this a different way...but those are the compromises you make for commercials.
