  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Jim Cameron buys...

Great news!

Looks like everyone here forgot Avatar was mainly performance capture and CG No landscapes shots and portraits. Of course except for the live shots.

All that means Avatar 2 could be shot approximately 60% with Epic-M (all of landscape shots and more other...) and 40% with Alexa-M (most of indoor shots and portraits).

With all sincerity ... Congratulations on the sale.

Barbara Walters would ask ...

"Do you know James Cameron well?"
"Do you like him?"
"Do you have to like someone to sell them your camera?"

That's what I've been saying all the time...there is no such thing as too many cameras, specially as good as RED :)

That's 25 3D rigs...is he using them as crash cams or fiddling around with 360 degree coverage?

Well done, that's big news in the industry.

Although I agree with Marks post, I'm going to use my 200 forum post to say congratulations to the RED team.

Another notch on your belt!

After all RED could finally start to fix Epic-S specs that will have new RED Dragon sensor with the highest dynamic range and finally go back to its own RED ROOTS with a price tag between $12.000 to $15.000 for Epic-S..

I'm sorry, but I must ask. What is your obsession regarding the EPIC-S + Dragon Sensor all about? Do you seriously expect the two to cost less than $15,000 for the body only? I'm afraid I can't read your talk as a joke...maybe it even isnt. I like to be one with an optimist outlook...however, I also realize that we need to refrain from deviating away from reality.

As generous as RED is, I can see how some can be fooled for a second or two. But I have to break it to you. RED is actually not a charity organization.

RED has also made it clear that they have found out who they are. They are not the company who wishes to sell a cheap HD camera to the masses, as you have for so long been clamoring for. They instead, are a CINEMA grade company, who have the ability to make products which are not only sought after by the top tier of filmmakers for their QUALITY, but also down to the filmmakers who are in their season of formation and are looking for AFFORDABILITY.

(Hopefully I don't come across as being harsh, but rather one who is making a few points that desperately need to be addressed)

Thanks for this... we posted that the Dragon sensor would be upgradeable for EPIC-M and EPIC-X.

And when they finally deliver the Epic-X batch of cameras, they're also well awarded all of us early Reduser. So a new era can start for the company. Just my 2c.

Champagne moment to end all champagne moments. Everything makes sense now...

Though, it it does make me wonder why James Cameron was pictured with an Alexa-M at NAB? Maybe we read too much into these photographs?? Maybe he needed a BTS camera...

CONGRATS, JIM!!

This is really Epic news.

Now we really know what camera won JC's cameras test.

:-)

Congratulation RED.

JC has just confirmed that the early adopter of RED are really NOT victims of a scam.

Hehe

Go Red, I want my Epic-X.

Must be nice to work at RED these days ;-) Congratulations!
