  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Jeff Kilgrow , are you for real???

I agree. I always pause to read when I see any of Jeff's posts. He's always quick to respond to inquiries and very sincere in his responses, as well as extremely informative. Great guy.
 
There is the entertaining Jeff as well as the kick-ass tech encyclopedia Jeff. Like when, as moderator Jeff, he gives the pre-ban warning post and by the end of the post he realizes he may have to ban himself as well. Those are always fun ;)

I read the title of this thread, and thought it was going to be some long winded complaint against the Kilgroe.

I was ready to roll some heads.


Jeff, the amount of beers people owe you could fuel a tragic alcoholic for over a year.
 
... and most of you guys don't even know what a calm, funny, engaging, creative, positive force he is in the heat of battle on a hot set.
 
i couldn't agree more. jeff is my guru too, and I am just in the other side of globe. Athe downside :)

I've reached out and shaken his helpful had this past NAB. I'd say he's real and rather brilliant. Unless he's some sort of modern wonder of a hologram or a robot. Then be on the lookout.

Unless there has been some undisputable proof of identity presented during this meet, many risk related variables are still in existence.
Protecting John Connor/Allspark is of utmost importance.

There are numerous people on reduser who enlighten and encourage. We're blessed with many gurus. Those who frequent this forum know their names.

On the tech side no one has provided more helpful information than Jeff Kilgroe. I just looked under his name and saw he'd cranked out 14,000+ posts. Holy s^%*. Small wonder I love to hang with the Dr at NAB. Imagine a couple beers and some shop talk with this guy. Priceless. And besides being wise beyond his years he's a great guy.

Just thought i'd take this moment (and I think I speak for many) to say thanks Jeff. When you talk people listen. And like Dave Mullins on the production side you speak carefully and respectfully. Totally agree - he has saved us many an hour with his advice, and many a dollar - I owe him a beer, in fact I owe him many nights of drinking.
 
Well,

I, for one, sincerely wish that people with encyclopedic knowledge and high post count did not get "blessed" with the moderator duty as well. Great knowledge does not imply a capacity to evenly dispense "justice" or whatever you want to call it, and this is not a dig directly on Jeff, though I have found his brand of justice uneven a couple of times. People like him should not bother with policing others and remain instead the beacons of information that they are. And yes, like many others, I have learned a thing or two from Mr. Kilgrow and I make it a point to read his posts whenever I see one, so in that respect, I join the love party.

great response 601590, ..but its time to come clean.. Jeff (also known as HB601590) is NOT REAL, and he was never meant to become self aware, please don't encourage him, his neural network is an old beta system replaced in current models. hopefully this clears things up a little

I've read posts where you made a mistake but then owned up to it. All that does is build trust.

I think "Moderator" and fountain of knowledge do go together in the sense that a moderator is someone looked to by others as being someone who has answers. I suspect that the policing part of being a moderator has guidelines set out by management for a moderator to follow. Things like closing a thread is probably done by consultation with management, and if not... should be. The same should apply for banishment and I suspect that is something reserved to management.

The position of Moderator should have authority and the hope is that those chosen as Moderators have a bit of the old Solomon wisdom when it comes to making just decisions of the policing variety.
