  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Jay Z + Anthony Mandler + Dragon

Pretty good...almost we are there...!!!! Just little bit of fixes with colour science and that's it...!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anthony Mandler directing, so most likely the grade was done by Dave Hussey at Company 3. I had the pleasure of working with him on some TV spots, and it was a great experience. Not only is he a great colorist, but he's a cool guy, and I was impressed at how fast he is with the Resolve. And he does something extra to the skin tones to make them look really good that I still haven't figured out yet. :)

That work in the Church with Justin is some of the best footage I've seen of him. Well crafted guys.

Is that native high ISO grain? If so, I'm stunned. Say what you want, but even with contrasty "blown-out music video" look applied, it has some of that feel from film days.

Damn that was great. Really interesting skin on jayz a few times in particular.

I could barely get through it until I realized I could turn the offensive audio off and just watch the amazing Dragon footage.

Well done!

wanted to publicly thank jim and jarred for going out of their way to support shoots with their new technology.
last september with the monochrome and recently with the dragon. awesome new cameras.
makes it a pleasure coming to work when there's tools like this to approach imagery.

Pretty sure the colorist was Tom Poole at CO3 NYC.

Not gonna lie, I saw this the day it released on facebook and thought it was shot on 35mm... I guessed wrong. Very impressive, makes me want to own a dragon so much more. My RED ONE MX will do for the next year or so though :)

Too bad it's on YouTube though, I can see traces of some interesting high iso grain, but compression kills it.

Not sure that's how it was shot though. Mandler likes to add film grain to all of his videos and he always degrades the images.

Would love to see a BTS
