  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Jarred's pet dog... Izzy

The secret to good directing is great casting. Nicely done.

I have been on the fence about the 2/3 for my nature doc's (mostly reptilian), This post just sold me completely. I think I just pooped my pants a little. Great Male Iguana by the way.

-One Happy Reptile Guy.

I just shot a bunch of tree frog stuff with my Red One and I wish I had the Scarlet 2/3rd just for the depth of field characteristics. Its tricky when you can only get half of a pupil in focus.

I guess I missed a crucial bit of information somewhere along the line... which 100mm lens was used with this? Which mount was it? I thought the Scarlet was only going to take the mini-Primes and C-mounts.

Insane footage Jarred!

The 2/3" scarlet will take those... the s35 or ff35 will take standard 35mm lenses.

Native 2/3" size sensor can use native size miniRED mount, C-Mount or B4 mount (or 8x fixed RED Zoom). But it will also accept just about any other mount where the image circle is larger than 2/3".

Jarred used a RED Pro 100mm T1.8 lens with a PL mount. Naturally, the sensor is only "seeing" the center of the image from the lens.

As I recall the interchangeability your talking about is doable on the field?

-Josh

Takes a minute or two to change mounts. 4 Bolts out. Change mount. 4 Bolts in.

Jim,

The most important question for me is if the 2/3" will have the option to utilize a Nikon mount. I know there will be a crop factor of 3.78x but I actually want that for wildlife work. Looking at using a couple long telephotos.

Of course... :-)

Cool. That sells me then.

Also, I hope you're still having fun with all this.
