Canada is next up.. Sim Video is preparing both coasts for service.

Is it a good idea to have a company like Sim Video be the official service centre in Canada when they directly compete with many rental houses in Toronto and around Canada?? I'm sure this is going to raise a few eyebrows with competitors. Sony or Panasonic always have their own independent service centers.

We arn't Sony or Panasonic :)

We like Sim, they have been entrenched in our program since day one, and In my previous life up in Vancouver I always had great experiences with them. They are the best choice right now because they not only have more RED cameras in their arsenal than any other company in Canada, but they also have already had their tech's come to lake forest for extensive training... they know the cameras inside and out.

Uhhhhh.....videoscope in Toronto is a Sony dealer, repair centre and rental house, Lorne Lapham in Vancouver is a Sony Dealer, rental house and repair centre and what about Cine Abel, same thing.......

I like Sim too

I like Sim too. But just so its not forgotten, P.S. has embraced the independent RED owner operators in Toronto. They have an amazing open door policy and have been quick to lend a hand. I just taught someone should say it.

edit:

In the end we in Canada are grateful to have a Red service centre in our backyard... shipping is a bitch :)

Any news when will we have a South American service center?
I am already planning a second trip to LA headquarters in order to get the camera serviced :S

Good news! Congratulations to Seika DI (hi Maki!).

I take it that warranty repairs won't cost us anything now if we take our camera directly to Seika?

What about taking delivery of Epic down the track? Will they still ship directly from the US? Is Seika only a service centre or will they be responsible for getting us Epic #378 and accessories?

Cheers for the info!

Paul

Upgrades only at the moment though. Just wondering what's holding up Pinewood from being a full service facility? I know it's in the works, but just curious. In the current climate there must be loads of great engineers and technicians looking for more work!

Pinewood is a full service center.. its just taken some time to get all the equipment/process setup and in order.

Cool! :)
