  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

JACK THE GIANT KILLER

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to Jim, and Jarred, and oh....yes, Bryan.

:)

Im telling you guys.. if you are wondering why Me and Deanan and Jim don't sleep at night, now you know why.. this stuff is so damn exciting. Glad we get to share it with you, and glad incredibly talented artists like Bryan not only appreciates what we are doing, but takes the time to drop in and tell you guys all about it.

What a year...

Just another fantastic ornament on the tree and more presents under the tree as well.

I'm giddy knowing how good it must feel for you to be making these great announcements Jim, Jarred and the whole RED team.

I'm so happy for you guys. Hard work pays off, eh?

Best.
David

Welcome Bryan Singer. Good of u to share your thoughts. Is HDRx™™ going to be up and running for this? Will be amazing to see what this will look like, given the subject period.

The project confuses me though. Or rather the name does...jack the Giant Killer is a epic, dark and rather bloody famous Cornish story but is different to Jack and the beanstalk (obviously a Victorian fairytale).

Happy shooting in Feb though.

Peace

These upcoming movies keep us warm and strong this winter... :)
Newton Thomas Sigel is a DoP or not?

....and "THE TITLES" they keep on coming.. truly a great time to be a Reduser and be part of this incredible endeavor,
congrats RED, and sure look forward to our Epics as well, so that in our small part we participate in a 2011 "THE YEAR OF RED" ;)

Oh yeah welcome to our newest "JUNIOR MEMBER" hehe

Don't worry Brian, I'm sure you will not be a Junior for long ;)

Bryan, thanks so much for stopping by, especially right next to the holidays. Good luck with production and I look forward to the final product. If you have any time in your very busy schedule we would love a few updates along the way ;)

Merry Christmas!

What a year...

When I was at the REDucation Community Night recently, you could sense the energy in the room. When Ted went up on the stairs and gave his "speech" (for lack of a better word) the mood in the room turned almost celebratory.

When Michael Cioni and others did their presentations I thought to myself, "they did it, an entire ecosystem has evolved around RED, and it's here to stay."

And when Mark gave his presentation, hehe, oh yeah, and talked about Storm too, I knew the enthusiasm was totally genuine.

I've been to so many techie trade show/event/seminars etc, that after awhile they have become all the same, but with different products. You know the kind, where someone stands up and says "this year we added X & Y to our same old product and changed the name slightly!" and there is half-hearted applause while people are thinking "but why didn't they add Z too?"

No so with RED. I've been watching the development of RED and the products they offer and constantly find myself thinking "what they're doing is amazing, and we're watching it happen in almost real-time." Then Jim will post something like "hope you guys don't mind, but were going to add HDRx™™™™™ now, can you wait a little longer?" and I'm more blown away than I thought I could be.

To all the team at RED, you have every right to be excited!

I'm very much looking forward to using the EPIC Red for my next movie "Jack the Giant Killer" which will be shot in, what else, 3D. The camera's incredibly compact size and extraordinary resolution are ideal for the 3D format.

But more importantly "Jack the Giant Killer" is my first movie set in a time before electricity. The EPIC's extraordinary exposure latitude will allow me to more effectively explore the use of natural light.

The Bryan Singer? The Usual Suspects is one of my favorites. Welcome to the forums Bryan.

Congrats all around. I've got a feeling EPIC sales just jumped again.

(This continuous news of the next big movie going to EPIC has got to be causing some serious concern around town. So what's the next argument? EPIC is a good 3D camera but if you're doing 2D then you stay with film?)

Bryan, thank you and welcome. :}

Are you targeting a 4k finish, or 2k?

Congrats, Red! Thanks for sharing, Jarred and Bryan.
