  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Exactly Ivan... That is why I love it so much I guess... Way less time spent in Photoshop... ;)

The color is so damn nice out of camera. I'm freaked out by how much is there too. I've been making some fun LUTs that really push things around and well..... it's been a while since I've had this much fun.

It feels so dense and meaty. You can see where the boost in color and dynamic range falls pretty nicely in comparison to Mysterium-X. Amidst all of the comparisons between cameras and other weird chaos I can't stress enough how impressive this is.

If Dragon is shot properly it can do a hell of a lot.

Agreed.
There is also a simpler definition of properly on Dragon than on Epic.
Which (I guess) will make more people make more good images.
It does not frame or light for you, but if you feed it a bit of light where you want your images to shine, you come a far way.

Using mostly natural light you got some amazing shots capturing the rough beauty of the Australian outback. I would guess most of these images are just ambient but somehow the eyes really pop on the majority. Was this a simple bounce into their eyes, working photoshop or just ambient with some adjustments in post?

Thanks in advance for sharing your technique.

Looks like someone beat me to it. Available light ONLY!?!?! The high cloud diffusion makes sense, creates some great fill.

Hi Will, no bounce just nature.. I used Lightroom 5 to grade these.. Spent about 5 to 10 min on each. ( not done.. I always keep going back) ;) I used the brush tool to kick up the exposure around the kids eyes.. Not much.. their eyes are so blue.. I really wanted them to pop..

Very nice pictures Ivan! Thank you for sharing! I especially like the organic look/colors. Reminds me alot of film.
And thanks to this whole community for spending so much time experimenting and sharing, even when its their beloved new flagships! (like Stacey gave Ivan his Dragon and Gunleik rented us his in Dez) Thats just great!
I wish I had more time for reading and do testing by myself... This is actually the only forum I try to read from time to time...
Lets keep spreading the word!
 
Ivan is a true artist with an eye for the critical moment. Awesome REDucation instructor as well.
 
If loving Ivan's beard is wrong, I never want to be right...

HAHA! I grow my beard for you Zac :) Heading out to the desert again this summer.. Probably going to shoot the Mormon Trail and the Trans Continental Rail Road just north of the great Salt Lake.. Trying to convince Justin and Beadle to come along again :) Wanna join us? Mark, I had this beard when the Duck Dynasty folks where still in prep-school wearing their pink polo's :)
