  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

It ain't the camera: It's YOU !

Earlier in this thread someone mentioned that one of the stills I posted in the initial post would be crawling with noise in motion.

I put it to the test, but not at 1000ISO instead I bumped it up to 2000ISO in RCX.

I know the clip is compressed, but clearly there is a quality to the noise patern that renders it very usable. So, in a great pinch, this would be a pretty acceptable picture and it does not really interfere with the blowing snow.

This shot is pretty challenging for the codec as well.

FYI:

Exported PR 4444 1920x1080 clip from RCX
1920x1080 clip then encoded with Handbrake 2 pass encode aith a 10K data limit = 16.9 MB file size

A lot of people shoot way better looking footage with dslr's than many EPIC owners. The skill is everything. I would rather have 5K EPIC than 6K EPIC (Dragon). 6K equals too much data and I don't want to buy camera to shoot 5K by cropping the sensor. Many think that 5K is already so sharp that it's too sharp for motion pictures. That's why people add blur and grain to the footage to make it look better.

double post

I've been away from this thread for a while, but last I heard "Cameras don't kill images, people do". so i'm making a shirt out of it. Let me know if any of you want me to send you one. write to me at jason@CinemaOxide.com

that design is really, really bad :D

Now I can't tell if the design is bad, or if its just Josh. i mean, the design is supposed to be kind of stupid looking, keeping with the tradition of what is being proposed.

The design breaks a lot of major rules (like how many typefaces have been used) but I get the joke.

The words "Don't be an image killer" come to mind when thinking of tee-shirts.

maybe this...
