I have some issue with my mac book pro:
I can't launch Red cine, the screen stay black for around 60 sec and then it crash
My system is :
Model: MacBookPro1,2,, 2 processors, Intel Core Duo, 2.16 GHz, 2 GB
Graphics: kHW_ATIr520Item, ATY,RadeonX1600, spdisplays_pcie_device, 256 MB
Serial ATA Device: ST910021AS, 93.16 GB
Parallel ATA Device: MATSHITADVD-R UJ-846, 6.93 GB

Sistem is 10.5.2
and QuickTime Version 7.4.5 (67)

Red alert is not working to... I can lauch it but when i try to load a .3rd file it crash (with the 4k 16:9 files). seem to work only with 2 k files (2:1 varispeed)

Any one have some tips?

thanks

I have a similar issue with my 17" MacBook Pro running leopard. Red Alert works fine, but I have yet to get Red Cine to run. I always get a black screen or the splash logo, followed by a crash. I don't have quicktime 7.4, still on 7.3 as advised by the forums.

On the RED support page I thought it recommends Quicktime 7.4.5 if running on Leopard and Intel chips.

At the moment, I believe 16x9 is not supported by RC. I believe you need to use Compressor to convert into QTs.

Have you tried reinstalling the RED programs?

You mean Red Alert Crashes when you try a 16:9 clip... The only way to work with 16:9 clips is to transcode them to Quicktime with RedCine, Quicktime wont open a 16:9 proxy as the camera doesnt generate them. And Red Alert cant open them to generate the proxies, so forget compressor. But in RedCine you can make draft Pro res files, work offline and then Online them with Crimson normally. Crimson uses File names and XML to function, so dont change file names, add a _2k_prores to the end of the A001_XXX_XXX_.r3d and Crimson will reconnect it Automatically instead of manually.

All apps work fine under 10.5.2 and Quicktime 7.4.5, I'm using FCP 6.0.2 but seems it doesnt matter. Try the Leopard Graphics Update, or re-install Mac OS X and dont install the Graphics update...
