  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Is there anybody out there...... Hello... hello...

I miss the excitement of the old days. :)

Long gone.

I rarely post here these days. The transition from 35mm to digital is completed and all open questions are answered. Reduser is now a place of reiterations and repetitions. The next big thing is the Dragon sensor. Until then I'm happy with my Epic like I was with the RedOne. Nothing to talk about really.

Reduser made never the transition to a place where people discuss content, things that drive art, culture, society, nations etc.... in short the basis of filmmaking. On the long run technical discussions are only interesting for nerds.

Agreed to a large extent.

But...

I have a concious knowledge that most of the non-arty, but practical/techie knowledge I have, have been gained through people like Graeme answering incredibly silly questions from a confused newb (that'd be me...)

And to some extent, I have a desire to pay back in different ways.

RU predictably went the direction it has gone already from build 16/17 (fall 2008) when RED closed down the format.
Even more so when they landed the Pirates and RLF came up.
RED is now one of the "biggies" and in a different posission than in the heydays us oldies remember and cheerish (to some extent)

Still, there is a lot of practical (non-nerdy) info here amongst all the noise, for sales, general complaints about how digital cameras works and other crap.

Quickly I'll point at Björns (and others) input to the LUT thread.
The lens tests (WOW guys!)
David Mullens, Michael Mosts, Jeff Kilgroes and a search on Evin Grants, Graeme Nattreess and Steve Gibbys old and new posts. Most of which have some sort of lasting and not necessarily geeky value.

In short, there is a library of knowledge in here, but it can be rather challenging to find...

But I agree... We felt like a unique gang up against the impossible with the warmth of the RED guys surrounding back in the days.
Those days are gone.

And in many ways.... that is not only bad.

I was last here when redray was being detailed.. just come back to check how its going.. should have known..no new info, all deadlines missed .. i think ill check-in annually from now on, its just too boring otherwise

I actually like the new red user! I have enough drama in my life already so I'm not looking for more of that stuff from a forum.
We shall see what happens when the dragon arrives tho...!

Maybe it's just me, but between Dragon, REDRAY, Meizler, and the incoming laser projectors I'm still pretty "rock hard" about everything.

Especially Dragon since there was so much revealed in that big thread about some of the additional features of the upgrade. I'm really happy that it has become more than a simple sensor upgrade.

I believe there's a million and one reasons to keep a bit of this closer to Red's chest in this rapidly changing UHD market.

Everyone be quiet,

Graeme needs to concentrate while he is implementing the new fantastic WiFi 3Dlut import module into the new upcoming red gamma 4 that will be possible to use both onboard camera for viewing and in RCXP.

And Jarred can not be here as he is not only finishing the final bits for the red pro mattebox that has that nice swing away barn door and nice rubber donut, he is also doing the final testing of the new redmote Iphone app, that comes with a "onscreen suctioncup FF wheel" that stick right onto the front of your I phone and the whole red office is filled up to the rim with dragons upgrades, that now will start to ship and be delivered within a couple of days after order. The funny thing is that the dragon update also includes a 2k proress module that has a +1 EVF module inside. So basically there is so much new stuff at the RED office so jared ha no chance to even reach over to his computer....

At least that's what I wish is happening :emote_happyhappy:

hehhehehee

Hope your right Björn, but its still very quite and boring from the front men...

I have tremendous guilt because we are late. That is the main reason for going silent. Having said that... we are finally about to unleashed a bevy of stuff to blow away everyone's expectations.

The the Dragon has awaken... :)

The truth is that Jim and Jarred were locked in the garage and red staffers had to cut off their supply of REDBULL and late night pizza delivery in order to get them to lift the door and take the dragon out for a walk. :)

Or they are just subscribing to a more Eastern approach to matters: stay quite, humble and let your performance speak for itself. NAB 2013 is a real critical inflection point for RED. My hope is it will be filled with boring announcements like Dragon upgrade dates by serial number and other tangibles without hyperbole. The best way to shut up your critics is to out perform them.
