  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Is the future 60fps?

John, thanks for the kind message. I love the HV20. We just bought some additional adapters and filters for it tonight with my husband...

One thing that really is messing me up though is the fact that Canon did not include some HDV attributes in their 24f stream, so there is not a single (affordable) NLE app out there that can deal directly with that video! The user must buy a $300 external utility to do the 3:2 pulldown and then re-import as real 24p. Even Premiere Elements' import utility that HAS this ability is grayed out because the attributes aren't there so the stream is recognized as 60i instead of 24f! After Effects is the only app that can deal with the problem without external utilities, but that's a thousand bucks. Except that problem (which apparently has angered lots of people who now ask for a Canon firmware upgrade to at least include the attributes), I love the camera.

Hi Eugenia

Thanks for posting this question.

How's that HV20 working out for you? Have you mastered panning with this camera?

I'm just so-so satisfied with my HV20. I've found that it's tough to impossible to capture decent clips when the camera isn't locked-down. However, when not panning, the captured images are very good: both 60i and 24P.

Kind regards for a fellow 60P dreamer. Would love to see a HV30 or mini-Red with 60P capability. :)

Sorry you got so much crap over this issue.

Beyond or not my own preference on a 24p realm, I'm adding my voice on that.

Greetings again

Yeah, I used the Cineform SW for 24P. Canon did pull a real marketing farce with this pull down issue.

Let me know what you think of pan shots with this cam. I've seen a lot of artifacting from this cam when panning across scenes with a lot of high spacial details. If you have any suggestions, I'd like to try them.

Regards
JohnG
