  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Folks,

We're seriously considering purchasing a RED ROCKET card now that we have our own Scarlet. How does the card coexist with other monitoring solutions? We currently have an AJA solution in our Mac Pro to handle monitoring our Final Cut edits, however, we may be switching to a BlackMagic solution so we can monitor our Resolve workflow.

Things we're wondering:

How does RED ROCKET play along with other cards in the same system?
Can anyone speak to the build quality of the card?
The specs speak to realtime 4k debayering...how does it manage 5k debayering?
With the advent of the Dragon sensor - will there be a refresh of the RED ROCKET? ie. would buying one now be a complete waste of money?

Thanks in advance,

Adrian

It speeds up 5k but it will not give you realtime.
There will probably be a faster version of the red rocket. or more hopefully I think X rocket or such where 10 rockets work as one in one PIC slot and if so the rockets we all ready have can be assisted by the new faster card or such.

There is quite a lot of investments in those cards and it would kind of suck if those that bought like 4 of them to get speed just would be at the end of the line with their investment. A compatible upgrade on the other hand would be super nice.
