I am not a teenager so I agree these movies are not targeted at me. I stopped Looper half way thru, I knew after 5 minutes it was trite, but I soldiered on. Which in your opinion is worse, Three Kings or Looper. I will try to finish Looper today. Sometimes I hate my job. Now it's off to watch, "Zero Dark Thirty".

Three Kings is still better but I liked both of them. I'm skipping Zero though.

Why ? Zero Dark Thirty is great, imho.

I think that LOOPER had a far better script than PROMETHEUS.

And so, I really enjoyed LOOPER.

Very hard to argue with that. I went into Prometheus expecting an epic, awe-inspiring story and was severely disappointed, and I went into Looper expecting to see a quickie, silly Sci-Fi film and it was actually far better than I expected.

Am I missing something, why are we comparing Looper to Three Kings? We do mean THAT "Three Kings", right? From 1999?

For the record, I always loved that movie.

I saw Zero Dark a couple of weeks ago, and was very impressed.

Argo to me is the dark horse. I thought that was GREAT.

I wish Moonrise Kingdom had gotten more kudos. Such a sweet, good film (my favorite Wes Anderson movie since Rushmore).

Django was off the chain.

Master gave me lots to think about.

It's been a good year, a really good year in fact.

Off to see Rust and Bone tomorrow.

LOOPER was a major flop for me, and although I find it difficult to formulate the allegorical language that would be suitable to describe the utter loathing I felt for this film, its suffice to say that I walked out when the Yippie Ki-Yay dude murdered the first child.
As for ZERO, I havent watched it but after 'point break' and Hurt Locker, I handle everything from the Bigelow conveyor belt like you would handle a scorpion.

Which in your opinion is worse, Three Kings or Looper.

You're asking for our opinion, but...it's very vague. Which is worse for what reason. Just as a movie at large? It's a little bit like asking which is a worse food, pizza or cheeseburgers, in your opinion. You can ask it but I dunno what you get out of it.

Looper is a better movie for exploring an as of yet undramatized ramification of the existence of time travel. Three Kings does a pretty bad job at that.

Three Kings does a pretty good job of de-glorifying violence and de-hero-ifying (it's a word now) the American presence in that war. Looper does a shit job at that.

Looper's child acting is fantastic. Way better than Three Kings'.

Three Kings has a nice indictment of american culture and what it does to african americans. Looper may or may not have had any non-whites with major roles.

This is glib, but people get different things from different movies, so it's really hard to suggest one you'd like, without having some other movies you already like to triangulate. Otherwise you're just asking a bunch of people their opinions without a frame of reference, which is almost like asking nothing at all.

Maybe I should never be allowed to post here again, but Three Kings is one of my favorite movies, really likes Loopsr and anything Rian Johnson does, especially Brick; and hope to see ZDT tomorrow. Just listened to a LONG interview from @gruber with Rian and liked it even more. So, love to hear specific reasons people don't seem to care for these, to see if I'm missing something. Or issues with Three Kings?Story? Plot problems? Cine issues? Pacing? Acting?

I also really liked Looper. In fact, I personally thought it would be a strong contender to get a nod for best original screenplay. Though I do know a lot of people that didn't care for it (obviously).

I really like Rian Johnson's vision and loved Brick and Brothers Bloom. He is a film supporter vs digital, but he has given very good reasons for it unlike most. I also enjoyed Three Kings, and that's a not a bad thing, even if some of you didn't like it, as long as we all stand together and dislike Twilight.

I didn't think Looper is the next Goodfellas by any means, but I can say I enjoyed it. It had certain elements that I very much respected. I felt like it was indeed a bit of a teen film, but it wasn't so targeted towards that demographic that the film was corny and annoying. However, I though it was an interesting take on time-travel, and I had a good time watching it.

Three Kings - Loved it when I watched it years ago.

Looper - Lots of style - some decent camera work - I have to say _some_ of the acting was tonally off, and the VFX work was maybe one step up from X-Men: Wolverine - which I found to be absolutely abysmal. I mean like the worst straight to dvd kind of title ever.

Looper was from what I have heard a relatively low budget film - it was "okay"

My three personal favorites from 2012:

The Master
Ted
Robot and Frank

I thought Argo was cool - but I don't personally find it to be Oscar material.

have yet to see Hobbit, 0Dark:30, Cloud Atlas (this seemed to get panned hard by a lot of people). Didn't get to see Django yet. Woohoo - sunday could mean movie day!

Um, Looper is better than Three Kings. Not a Russell fan. The only movie he did that I like is The Fighter. Best movie this year was Zero Dark Thirty followed closely by Django Unchained.

There were some underrated gems like Looper, Seven Psychopaths, The Grey and The Raid.
