Iron Man 3 will be made in Wilmington, NC!!

Today is a big day for Wilmington NC, and North Carolina in general!

Today it was made official that "Iron Man 3" will film in Wilmington. At a news conference at Screen Gems Studios this afternoon, Gov. Bev Perdue officially announced the latest installment in the popular film franchise starring Oscar nominee Robert Downey, Jr., will shoot in the Port City.

Perdue said "Iron Man 3" will be the largest movie ever produced in North Carolina. She says it will bring 550 high-quality, well-paying jobs, 1,000 acting opportunities and pump $80 million into the local economy.arty:

I haven't shot in Wilmington yet I'll attempt to get on shooting spherical HDR/texture/VFX stuff. Worked on the first one briefly and had a blast. Great crew and talent.

At any rate, congrats. We here in TO just had Total Recall ($200 mil) come through and in 2 weeks we've got Pacific Rim (Still Seas according to the hotlists) (~$300 mil) going to camera.

Of course, now that I'm on the west coast we get a huge film in the old stomping grounds...a bunch of internship opportunities for UNC-W students I bet...DUB Class of '08, whooo I was gonna visit this Christmas with my new RED if I could get a Scarlet or Epic in time...

We have a couple interns from UNCW at the moment and I know they are enjoying learning about the business. I'm sure if you have any, they would love to get some tips about the business on the west side! And we hope you get your RED in time!
