  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

iPhone 4 is the new 5D Mark II

IPhone is far superior to the 5D; I can't make calls or shop on eBay on my 5D:)
Hold the iPhone the wrong way (i.e. the way most people hold it) and you can't make calls on it either

Just wanted to say, I love the iPhone movie. I completely understand what you guys were trying to do, and I bet it was a lot of fun getting together with friends and being creative.
Think there's an app for Android phones out there that can edit my phone movies? Got an EVO 4G, there's not much it can't do...

That was cute, and very well-done. And it looks a lot less worse than I thought it would. The rolling shutter is rough, and the auto gain kills me. But the crappy look, with it's low dynamic range, has a cool quality to it, unlike a cheap video camera. Could be fun to do a project that requires that low quality. Could also be hard on the audience...

Funny that if they made this on a Red, 5D, or a Flip, no one would be talking about it. Their marketing strategy is by far the most impressive thing about this film in my book. Something to definitely pay attention to.

I just hope to God that I would never be in such a no budget situation where i need to shoot and edit my movie on an iphone4

Well you still get paid for your time, and the camera:thumbsup:

@ Michael, this is an awesome post...

that Vimeo video is fantastic and now Im going to post on DVX user and 5D and 7D blogs that the end is near for the 5D and 7D as I heard the next episode of HOUSE will be shot on iphone 4

Shot and edited with the iPhone. Don't miss the making of at the end.

I really liked this. This being done with an iPhone is certainly a novelty for now.

But I think what made it enjoyable was good filmmaking. A nice story, good casting, well chosen shots, tidy edits and music score. Complete the project with the BTS story and it is really well done.

If I didn't know it was done with an iPhone, I would still like it.

The fact that it was done with an iPhone is impressive. Imagine what it would take to get some of those shots with even a DSLR. And the quality of the image is not too bad!

I've just heard too many people too many times say (when looking at footage compressed on the web) that the 5D2 looks "good enough" and now people are going to start saying that about the iPhone 4. I just find that ironic and hope it leads true professionals back up the curve to quality RAW 4k acquisition.

I have had this same experience.

My hope is that when EPIC hits the streets it will re-focus attention on exceptional quality motion pictures as opposed to "good for the price" images.

Funny, I heard it was gonna be animated on a zoetrope.

Which is not unlike how they write the plots, anyway! Zing!

(Just kidding, House fans. Haven't seen enough of the show to know if it's really done well or not. Certainly seems repetitive, though...)

frankly I think it is fantastic.
Forget the resolution.Good story and good acting!

:torsten_violent-smi OK, I guess it's really happening. Hmmm.

Holy cow, that looks like ass. Granted, I think most of it is the abysmal coloring job, but that unwatchable jello rolling shutter doesn't help much either.

It's weird, I watched a couple of their other spots, and they're very nice. I don't understand how they could think that iPhone footage looks good when they're clearly capable of creating quality work. And it baffles me how they'd waste time with a toy when they've got a Red on their hands! Oh well, more work for the rest of us who care more about quality imagery than the latest gadgets.
