If all goes as planned our shipment will arrive this week in the USA which means dealers will have their stock replenished early next week.

We thank everyone for your patience…we know quite a few people have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of this second production run.

Johnny,

When you get it I hope it will have been worth the wait...I think it is.

And worthy of your second REDuser posting…compared to the 1K you could have spent elsewhere on any other array of matteboxes.

We do very much appreciate it; and are here for you- and everyone else.

Best,

Is there a native 15mm studio bracket option that mounts directly to the O-box without any adaptors?

Hello Peter,

No there is not; but we have adapter solutions from 15mm LWS to 19mm or 15mm studio rods to cover all three rod standards.

The reason some larger studio matteboxes have a native 19mm studio bracket is that they are too heavy (especially with filters) to be supported by 15mm LWS rods.

I just wanted to take this opportunity to let everyone know that O-Box inventory has been replenished, and is available for delivery from stock!

If you’re located in Europe, make sure to check out Gecko-Cam (www.gecko-cam.com), who usually have a good selection of OConnor equipment (including O-Boxes) in stock. They’re an authorized service point for OConnor, and also an official service center for Red, so you’ll be in good hands.

When can we expect a step down ring that will enable the O-box to clamp onto the Red 17-50 zoom?

Much appreciated...

We have two new clamp rings in the works; a 143mm that will work with both the RED 17-50 and the 18-85. The other is a 134mm for Alura lenses.

We’re not going to make any promises but any other rings you would like to see; clamp on from 150mm or step down from 114mm?

Let us know-

Is a 5.65x5.65 tray going to be offered? For grads, etc... Or will any standard 5.65x5.65 trays fit? For example, rotapolas? Thanks.

Is there a bellows adapter, Oconner or other aftermarket, that can accommodate older rotating/extending front lenses like the Angenieux 12-240?

The best solution I can think of is to use our 150-114mm bellows with our 114mm to 110mm threaded step down ring with a Chrosziel 110mm rubber diafram.

What is status of the red 17-50 clamp ring? Any idea when it will be available?

Hi Max,

Both the 134mm and 143mm rings are currently in production and will be shipping in early August.

BTW-

Our good friend Mitch@Abel Cine Tech tested the O-Box with the RED 17-50 lens and we clear...no problem.
Eric, great to know that it works with the Red 17-50, did you test it with the Red Pro 300mm?

The O-Box works just fine with all of the lenses made by RED!

I don't see how that would make a difference. Red One or Epic. Both have rails. Its the lens that meshes with the MB not the camera.

The Epic at 5k takes in a wider field of view than the Red One. In my experience, the O-Box on the 17-50 vignettes up into the low 20s on the Epic at 5k. On the Red One, it may not vignette at all, because the field of view is narrower.

I should add, the hood on the 17-50 is quite large and deep, which keeps the front element pretty far back from the filters, so most 4x5.65" matteboxes with multiple stages will likely have the same issue.
