Switronix has developed a way to make their batteries communicate with the RED One for the status display in the viewfinder. These are the only batteries on the market other than RED to do this.

There are two models. The Switronix XP-L95RED is a 95whr lithium battery which is legal to ship and transport on airlines under the current FAA regulations. At 140whr, the RED batteries are not. The Switronix XP-L190RED is a 190whr lithium battery which is the strongest onboard battery available for the RED on the market.

The Switronix batteries can be charged on the RED chargers or any other V-mount chargers, including models from Switronix. The batteries are priced at approximately the same dollars per watt as the RED brick and will function on the camera the same as the RED battery. They have an LED bar readout on the side similar to the RED battery and they also include a P-Tap power port directly on the battery itself, giving the user an extra 12v accessory port.

Abel is offering special bundles on these new batteries with exclusive pricing. The 95whr batteries are available in a set of four with either a Switronix GP-TS-RED hotswap adapter or a GP-TS-RED2 hotswap mounting plate with Lemo cable. The 190whr batteries are available as a set of two with a Switronix GP-S-RED replacement battery mount. With the pricing we are essentially throwing in the battery mounts free of charge. Note that in the first two bundles, by using a hotswap one gets 190whrs of power on the camera, retains the status information and everything is airline transportable.

These are exclusive deals from Abel Cine Tech. The batteries are also available for purchase individually. They can be ordered via our website or by contacting our offices in New York, Los Angeles or Chicago. Feel free to direct any technical questions to me.

Mitch, many thanks. Looks hopeful and very timely for us. However, I am unable to fine the batteries in question on the Able Cine web site. I am able to find the Switronix Hotswap adapter but not the batteries themselves. Perhaps just a matter of time, or is it me?

Mitch, can you make it a habit to post direct links to products on your site.
Its getting a little old having to scour your site for product info, and half the time its not listed or there is no price.

Id love to keep buy from abel, but things like that make it hard.
Also everytime i get a oqute from your sales people, it take more then 1week
to even get a qoute, 2 its usually the wrong part number, and part of some "bundle"
that includes a bunch of randoms??? or even better "i didnt know we carry that"

Now that you are becoming the exclusive dealer for alot of these RED vendors, it makes it really difficult to even get a price out of anyone.

Its awsome that you are such a strong part of the community here, and have done alot but your sales methods are not even up to B&H standards anymore, you just carry to much stuff for your staff to know what it is.

Your rental dpt on the other hand is awsome...

ok end rant.

Hahah...
The batteries are priced at approximately the same dollars per watt as the RED brick and will function on the camera the same as the RED battery.
Humm... approximately the same dollars per watt as the RED brick?

Will using these batteries affect my Red Warranty?

is it 190watts times $450 = $85,500 per batt? That seems high. Can you just tell us the price?

So how much for these packages?

Sorry kids, my bad. I meant to add the link but I forgot. I'll add it to the original post but here it is:

Please understand that often when a new product is released we will get several hundred requests for quotes. Sometimes that can take a little time to plow through. Usually quotes are processed by the next day.

The Red Brick is 140 Watt Hours and costs $450. That means it costs $3.21 per watt hour. It follows that the Switronix XP-L95RED would cost approximately $304.95 and the XP-L190RED would cost approximately $609.90.

Hey Mitch,
I'm sorry if this sounds dense or rude (because I intend neither), but why can't you just post the prices? Making everyone do a RFQ seems like prices vary considerably based on who does the asking

Do you have the weight and dimensions yet for the L190RED & L95RED batteries? Also, are these batteries currently in stock at Abel Locations?

Thanks.

L95RED
Capacity: 95wh (14.8v, 6.6Ah)
Size: 3.8" x 5.87" x 2"
Weight: 2 lbs.

L190RED
Capacity: 190wh (14.8v, 13.2Ah)
Size: 3.8" x 5.87" x 2.95"
Weight: 4.19 lbs.

These batteries are not yet in stock but we will know delivery dates from Switronix tomorrow. It will be very shortly (days).

Hey Mitch,

I suspect it is because some manufacturers have a minimum advertised price so as to keep their high ball distributors happy- and Able Cine is consistently below those contractually obligated minimums.

Just a guess.

is it 190watts times $450 = $85,500 per batt? That seems high. Can you just tell us the price?

The RED battery is 140whr and is $450. That's about $3.20 per watt. The Switronix batteries are about the same dollars per watt. I don't know another way to put it.

Fair enough. i just did a RFQ

Clint is on to something there. I have been asked not to list prices. On a few specific items we do list prices. There are various reasons for this, some of which are contractual obligations of Abel's. Honestly I do not always know why I am not supposed to post certain prices and since I'm not in Sales I'm happy to keep it that way. ;-)

RED brick is about 400 hours usage and last about 90 minutes. What about Switronix batteries ? and how long is the battery last taken EVF and LCD attach on the configurations ?

Need this info
