  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Introducing Epic-W 8K

Received the Epic-W and what a beast so clean in low light.
I think I know which camera will be used on the next Jessica Jones Season :)

here a crushed blacks mixed lighting example (8k shot wide open ISO 3200):

and here the R3D:

Stefan,

I have noticed with other Epic-W's that footage seems to have a green cast to it or it may just be my computer screen. Do you remember what in-camera white balance you used to capture this footage?

And if you don't mind, I graded out some of the green to see what it looked like.

Beautiful Work man! Wish I could grade like that :)
For my untrained eye the handling of the sensor in mixed light is astonishing! I got a few projects coming up
in low light and can't wait for the results. The Dragon in the DSMC1 got quite noisey at 2000.
With Helium the noise is less and a lot smaller (due to pixel size), combined with DSMC2 it's the low light Trifecta!
Can't wait for Phil's Tests...

My shoot was straight of the camera didn't touch it :) with low light filter (forgot to mention that)

Stefan, Thanks

But After looking at your more saturated "neon" look out your camera, I think I like your pic better, mine is a little flat.

Phil's tests will astound and amaze us all

No pressure :)

My camera is at RED HQ for upgrade'n. I like seeing what everybody else's first shots are for sure.

People are tuning into Helium though. It's pretty darn clear it's cleaner in low light. However, due to that people who enjoy flatter, lower contrast looks will notice some advantages for sure.

Phil,

No pressure, just do what you always do, that should do it.

...Upgradin' from VV -> Helium?! ;-)

Considering my rather publicly known love for the VistaVision format, you'd have to chop off my hands and poke out my eyes to pull the 8K VV away from me.

But yes, my Weapon 6K S35 is receiving a Helium 8K S35 injection.

Is there a simple work around to importing our Epic-W R3D files directly into Adobe? I'm working through REDCine-X Pro but I still need to convert it before Premiere CC and I want to keep it RAW. Adobe tells be it will be at least a month until they put out an update to fix the unsupported codec.

Ok. This means his WEAPON VV sleeps in a room protected by a fingerprint scanner AND an a iris scanner...Good to know.

It hasn't been publicly released, but they do have a beta version that works with Helium footage that's nearly ready to be updated in the Creative Cloud distro. It's close.

Is it a closed beta?
