  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Interchangable OLPFs

Just got my notice for the Low Light OLPF as well. Looks like they're finally starting to move, ordered around a month and a half ago.
 
Asked for a LLO with my dragon update. That was the only reason I was waiting on upgrading, and they shipped my the HLO one. :( Waiting, and waiting now for my LLO.
 
Got my OLPFs, swap kit pus extra OLPF. The process worked nicely.

Now I wait for the individual firmware to arrive. I have contacted my Rep and the support.

Thanks RED, the kit was really done in a nice way.

Edit: all fine and worked great. My preset loaded down as file not as folder, so I created a folder by saving the defaults to the SSD. In that "Preset" folder I placed the downloaded file "xyz.preset" and restarted. All fine/edit

Thanks again everyone, this update kit has a lot of care and love, it was a pleasure to install.

It was a fun project. I got to be the "if he can install and not f**k it up, we can send it customers" guinea pig, haha.

I have to admit, to do it the first time... well, cutting over an expensive sensor, the right thing perhaps for an adrenalin junky, thehe.

Anyway, I'm so in love with the options now. Fantastic.

So I just recieved my highlight OLPF, but didn't recieve the swap kit I requested, hmm, I bought one of the battle tested epic Dragons a while back, I wonder if mine already has the swappable bit installed, how could I tell? Or maybe Red just forgot to send me the swap kit

If you go into your menu, does it give you the option to switch between the two OLPFs? If not, I would guess you have your answer.
 
Sounds like you don't have the interchangeable OLPF kit installed. Contact RED and follow up with them?

If the OLPF on your camera doesn't say the name of the filter (take off the lens and look) then you don't have the interchangeable system. I don't think any of the battle tested Dragons came with it.
 
Battle-tested DRAGONS, AFAIK, all were sold "as is", meaning non-swappable.

Jake, your rep will be able to confirm by serial number.
 
Can any one send me the instructions and the video tutorial of the OLPF Installation Kit?
I wanna decide if i should send the camera back or i can do the modification myself.
 
Alexandros, if you have an order in for the DIY kit, they (dragonupgrade@red.com) will send to you. If you want to retract that order after seeing it, no problem.
