What would also be good to know is the details of sending in the DSMC mount, because it's on the Weapon MG page as well, with which you don't get a mount in return.
Does "If applicable" mean "if you get an 8K weapon" or "if you get a CF weapon" because to me it sounds like: "send in any DSMC mount no matter what package you get (also for MG model), but if you own a PL mount we need that." And I don't believe that it's meant that way.

you will be responsible for shipping the BRAIN®, Side SSD Module, and a DSMC Lens Mount (PL mount required, if applicable)

I think the last sentence answers your question:

"When it is time for your order to be fulfilled, you will be responsible for shipping the BRAIN®, Side SSD Module, and a DSMC Lens Mount (PL mount required, if applicable) to a RED upgrade facility.... RED will evaluate your DSMC Lens Mount, perform any needed updates to ensure it meets the latest product performance specifications and ship back installed on your new WEAPON BRAIN at no extra charge."

No idea what "if applicable" means in this context.

So, we who don't have the money at this time and can't put in a deposit now will not get this $5000 accessory deal?
What I mean is, if I can't afford the upgrade now but may be able to do it a year from now I will loose the ability to get the discount for accessories because you need to put in a deposit right now, today during NAB?

Everybody needs to read Jarred's posts very carefully. Especially when he puts things in YELLOW.

Weapon 6K Magnesium:

Basically that $5000 accessory credit is for NAB upgrades and NAB new camera purchases.

RED will likely not offer that forever. Consider it the "NAB deal" that many companies explore.

i think they need to extend this offer for another few days to sort all this out... specially for people not in US timezone :D

That's understandable, but I'm just trying to see what the long term upgrade price for a pre-NAB dragon owner would be. I see a lot of calculations about what we will get if we preorder now, during NAB, but there are a lot of people who might do it some time after NAB and I feel a bit confused as to what kind of economy I need to plan for in the future.

- If you already own EPIC-X DRAGON, your trade-in credit towards WEAPON CF is $15,500 plus a $5000 weapon accessory credit. If you own Epic-X Dragon After NAB
begins, your trade in credit is $13,000 plus a $5000 weapon accessory credit.

Your $5000 accessory credit will remain until you are ready to upgrade to Weapon, and is not limited to NAB week.

!

"That is how it works. The $5000 accessory credit is for all of you that have Dragons before NAB and it is good to use until you are ready to upgrade to Weapon.. whenever that may be. That is one of the reasons why it was " worth it " to upgrade before NAB.

The $5000 accessory credit that is tied to NAB week is just for the new Weapon orders ( not upgrades ) ."

Now I think it's still a little grey since (and maybe i just didnt see it in all of the pages of these forums) but was it specified that the deposit had to be made in order to be eligible for the $5000 credit? And then it lasts till we upgrade? To me it seems as if he is saying "by ordering a dragon ahead of time, you saved yourself and when youre ready to upgrade you have a $5000 credit in accessories". Even if we pay the deposit after NAB. But again, even reading the posts carefully, there is still a little concern that if we dont put a deposit down by tomorrow, April 17th, we lose the $5K credit. Can we get an official confirmation that the requirement for the $5000 credit is to have the deposit paid before the end of the last day of NAB and then we can use the $5000 credit whenever we want? Or is it good for whenever we put our deposit in as a "early adopter of dragon" credit? In addition, I too am curious about if the accessory credit can be used towards the cost of the upgrade. I'm sure that by getting people into the new body, ultimately they are going to get that money anyways because we would need the accessories eventually. For me, I kinda lost the idea of getting into weapon since thats a huge piece of change to dump down... But for some reason, baby steps always makes me sleep easier... And if those baby steps consist of holding off on certain accessories while I go to bed knowing at least the Dragon has upgraded to weapon than thats a huge plus. Anyway, it seems like a pretty killer deal for all those involved. Thanks for the opportunity RED.

The WEAPON MAGNESIUM UPGRADE PACKAGE also includes the following:
-WEAPON BRAIN (MAGNESIUM) w/ Integrated Media Bay
-WEAPON SIDEKICK (MAGNESIUM)
-WEAPON BASE EXPANDER
-WEAPON REDVOLT XL MODULE
-WEAPON TOP HANDLE
-WEAPON LEMO ADAPTOR A
-WEAPON PACKAGE CASE
-1 YEAR STANDARD WARRANTY

Now this makes it seem more appealing. The initial post claimed only the body and SSD reader was included in the price, but having a full camera package for the same price is quite awesome. Then add a $5k accessory bonus. This should change a lot of initial opinions.

What I've taken away from talking to my rep and this forum is that the $5k accessory bonus can't be used to decrease the upgrade price.

01-Pre NAB Dragons got U$5K for acessory credit.

02- Upgrade to Weapon during NAB, paying 5K will get +5K for acessory credit.

So If yoy got Dragon pre NAB and upgrade during, you will get 10K for acessory credit.

My Bomb Squad rep said the opposite:

You will receive a $5000 credit for have a SCARLET DRAGON prior to NAB, which you would subtract from the listed UPGRADE PACKAGE option you are considering.

Furthermore, when you place the upgrade deposit within 10 business days you will receive a $5,000 accessory credit to go along with your new WEAPON system. This accessory credit will be applied when your WEAPON is invoiced in full. Originally the accessory credit was only going to apply the week of NAB, but it will now be present for all UPGRADES beyond NAB as well.

You could use the accessory credit towards the overall upgrade package or additional accessories!

Hey guys let us put together a little chart with everything tomorrow.. I think a visual map on how everything works is going to be the best way to clarify things for alot of people.

It's not your fault for being confused, there are so many different upgrade paths from so many different starting points and so many time sensitive discounts that it is very easy to get lost.

It would be great to know whether there's any transfer value of Red Armor we paid for, especially for Red Armor that was paid for very recently.

Jarred can you extend the NAB offer until we see this chart? would help alot to make the decision... we are not all huge rental houses :)

Did the upgrade and can confirm that the deal was for Epic M to Mg:

34500 less 17500, less 5000. And the new camera comes with the accessories as a package. When I did the math adding in the accessories value in the package I think it is very compelling and generous. The only add ons will be media if you do not have mini mags, and XL batteries if you do not have and want to use those. AFAIK the deal of trade in value and accessory value will remain for the time being.

I felt upon reflection that this was a very solid deal. Had I purchased a Dragon 5 minutes ago, I daresay I would use it for a few months before opting to upgrade. But as I shoot Red Dragon by preference, and have only had certain 'ease of use' issues with it, the new camera body checks a lot of boxes for me. The auto black shade is like a dream come true.

Whether pro rez matters I dunno. I use FS7 a fair bit as low cost option for clients. Its good, not Red good, but good. And that is Slog. So no pro rez. I think these days most people are getting more used to and wanting Log shooting. Throwing LUTs on in Premiere is easy. For those who need pro rez can though I want to see Red have at least 4K UHD only option down the road for Mg and CF to kick a certain cams ass:)
