  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I posted this in a thread which has since been deleted, thought this info might be helpful for some who are on the fence about the upgrade, or who are just looking for information.

I don't think people really understand this. It's really a badass deal, you get those accessories, plus an additional $5k off the body. I didn't realize those accessories came free with the upgrade.

YEP, I have told this to several persons, JUST TODAY, and I still say a sticky post with a flow chart would save Soooo many calls, etc. My BS rep said today he had hours of followup communications to respond to AFTER his shift ended-he was going to do all of it as well...

this is what the rep wrote. is it 'confirmed'? well, it's straight from a reliable source who should be an authority on the current pricing structure. a singular source, so not 'confirmed' as such. but it seems pretty unambiguous to me.

my camera is an epic dragon (non CF) and the upgrade i put a downpayment on is magnesium. it seems like a reasonable assumption that the same $5000 credit (to either accessories or to be used against the upgrade purchase price) would apply to the Carbon Weapon upgrade. i would confirm this with your bombsquad rep.

like i wrote in the deleted thread, jarred told a group of us that the 'accessory discount' could not be used against the upgrade price. perhaps they had a change of heart, or felt like they needed to sweeten the deal to appeal to a greater number of users. i'm not sure. but i wanted to share the information i had about this for everyone who's interested, because with all of the questions and speculations the waters have gotten a little muddied.

So, to be clear, you will pay a total of $12,000 USD, correct? $5,000 now and $7,000 later? I read that the "NAB April 16 deadline" discount only applies to new orders, not upgrades. Is this true? And if so, is there any reason for people considering the upgrade program to rush? Also, is there a time limit on this "Upgrade package" offer?

The earlier you pay your deposit, the earlier your timestamp for your upgrade.

Understood. I just want to be 100% certain that there's no financial savings offered for the Upgrade options relating to today's April 16 deadline. It seems like this deadline is just for NEW Weapon purchases, not upgraders.
 
If you're curious minus the Weapon Brain itself the included accessories that come with the MG and CF Weapon "Package" upgrades add up to about $5090 or $8940 respective to each model. Assuming the case is around the same price of the current cases that is.

RED will evaluate your DSMC Lens Mount, perform any needed updates to ensure it meets the latest product performance specifications and ship back installed on your new WEAPON BRAIN at no extra charge."
 
correct, my upgrade price from epic dragon to magnesium weapon would be 12k total, if i used the entire 'accessory bonus' towards the upgrade cost. $5000 down, $7000 due. that's the NAB special.
 
Thanks Scott. When you say "that's the NAB special"... I do still wonder if this offer has a time limit? Will this offer still exist in 6 months I wonder?
 
Guys I really don't think the $5k goes towards the upgrade price. I went round and round yesterday with two different reps on the floor and was flat out told that it would not apply towards the upgrade package. The way they explained it to me is that the package includes some accessories as a gift to people upgrading and that the $5k would be for additional accessories and cannot be applied to the package. If they told me wrong I'm going to be a little irked because it would mean that I lost more than two days of position...

this is my understanding as well - purely from everything I'm reading online, in particular Jared's posts

my understanding is that it's $5,000 credited to your account o spend on weapon accessories - not $5k you can take off any payment

this is all very confusing!
