  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Inexpensive gadgets and accessories you can't do without.

Be wary of steadimoves.com, they changed their pricing on a product after I ordered (and had the receipt), and then charged my card for the additional charge.. Not exactly a reputable business.

hmmm anyone bought the digitaljuice diffusion kit?

you mean the butterfly kit? Yes. Got it for $300 (on one of their sales bonanza), and it's been super useful. The frame looks fragile at first but its actually strong and lightweight too.

+1 on on the Butterfly kit.
Use it a all the time on a children TV show I´m shooting now. Quick and easy to set up on location. I did realize that I don´t need all the rubber bands to attach the sail, as they seemed to bend the frame under the pressure

I combined a couple of inexpensive favorites, the Olympus ME-52W microphone and the Home Depot clear canister in the smallest size. Total cost is about $16 for decent scratch audio. Just cut the edges off the tray the mic ships in. Not crush-proof but fine for throwing in a backpack.

These are super durable and have a million uses. I personally use these to hold tools, Cables, disposable batteries like AA's, 9v. etc, and I know others who house their wireless focus unit in them and drop them in a pelican case. So I'm sure you could also find tons of uses for them...

Herbert, I have both and the knock off does not fit as tight as the 16x9. It holds, just doesn't lock in like the 16x9 clamp. It is ok, just that feeling.

David YMMV

Anybody use the 16x9 quick release to mount the 5.0'' touch lcd to the top of the DSMC? I'm curious if it will hold.

16x9 Inc. Cine Lock Quick Release Mounting Device (no cheap)
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/571960-REG/16x9_Inc_169_CL_01_169_CL_01_Cine_Lock_Quick.html

I have them on everything, RED lcd, 2 on the smallHD, teradek etc. makes switching the monitor to hand held in seconds. it really helps prevent things getting loose on a noga are and helps prevent stripping your threading from constant use and abuse. Everything on my camera package is basically quick release, makes camera setup time in the morning 5 minutes

Sam Measure at Red Europe suggested this one, for those of us that are using the HD SDI out of camera.

Once you've got extra modules or a Battery plate on the rear of the camera the SDI connector is hard to reach, so just attach a SDI right angle male to female connector so you can reach the connector from the side of the camera.

Make sure it's 75ohm impedance to support HD SDI. Link below
