  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I understand there is variance between the same model of camera. I.e. each RED looks slightly different.

Is there a process during manufacture where the characteristics of the camera are embedded in the system so that transforming to XYZ means you're truly in a device-independent colour space - or is there benefit in profiling one's own camera for greater colour accuracy?

Every light and lens and to some degree OLPF and fabric and paint and atmosphere will vary. Any calibration you perform would only be calibrated under that exact light with that exact material with that exact lens with that exact sensor at that exact temperature. I wouldn't think it's worth it.

It's been a heartbeat since 3D was part of my life, but VR is occasionally a thing. I profile every camera and lens to match. It's worth the time and effort to do so especially with lens variations between copies.
