Im looking for larger desk to put in my office. I saw this one in the blackmagic catalog and I think its pretty much perfect. BUT I can't find anything like it anywhere. Does anyone know where to get a large desk like this with the ergonomic curve WITHOUT having to spend thousands for someone to custom make it? Greatly appreciate any input.

I'm not sure about that exact desk, but if you're in the market for one, I'd STRONGLY urge you to get a sit/stand desk. Well worth the money! If you're savvy, you could build one for about $400-500 too. Love the ability to stand most of the day, but sit when my feet get tired.

hey Chris. That's definitely in the running. I just wish I could find a nice thick table top with a curve to put on top of one of those kits.

I converted to standing and I really am appreciating what it does for my alertness and posture. I'm never hunching anymore. I know ikea makes a motorized sit stand, but mine is standing only. If my feet get tired I take a short walk and then I feel refreshed.

I'd really consider something you can stand, as well as sit at.

You'll break your neck staring at the monitor in the top picture. SMPTE has specific recommendations for viewing height and viewing angle of monitors, which I believe are part of RP-66-1995. It's amazing to me when I see people building control rooms who have no idea that standards exist for this stuff and you don't have to completely start from scratch.

Lol! I'd never have a monitor set that high in my face. So aside from all the equipment placement I wasn't even looking at... do you know of any curved desktops like the picture in this list of standards you speak of?

lund halsey.....pricey, but you get what you pay for. I had a curved edit desk just like the one you're looking for. They have the design and i think it's now a standard stock item. Agree with the standing comments though. It's nice to be able to switch it up from time to time :)

IKEA has affordable motorized sit/stand desks.

Perhaps a woodworker could provide custom tabletop in the material and shape you want?

I love all those BlackMagic promo images. They're always like the worst generic stock corporate images you can find. Every model in those images look like they don't really know what they are doing, like stick figures set into place with a dead expression. There's no joy in filmmaking and no down sides as well, just this bland, to use an old fight club-expression, calm as hindu cows -look to them
:tongue_smilie:

And the guy who works with the pen tablet will have to pay serious money for a chiropractor after just a couple of hours of use with that kind of operation.
