  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

IMS news please

We did not cast this to the side. When we had to freeze the design of the mount, the /i pins were not yet enabled in the camera. We were asked by RED not to connect to the /i cable. If I recall correctly, Stuart said don't hold up release of the product waiting for this to be finalized. The /i pins are now going into the camera, so this will be looked at again. There is an extra unused serial port in the mount for a reason... maybe this was the reason?

That's really good to know. Sorry if I over-generalized.

For Birger mount could be the best to get IMS "positive lock" back and take a part of the IMS mount options.

Sanjin, If you can part with your IMS Canon EF mount for a week or two, I would be happy to take a look and see what the right way to get EF control onto the IMS platform.

Email me if interested... or just ship for arrival in Boston arround 14 October.

Think Erik's getting married this week, hence his request to send it for around 14th October.

Also emailed P&S. Great that Eric wishes to have a look at EF control for the IMS.
Thanks all.

Great offer, Erik.

Good to see that this thread is back on being constructive!

Very constructice !!!
That's what i like so much in this Red community.
Thank you Erik, thank you Sanjin, you guys are very generous.
Beeing positive will only get us (RED, we customers, 3rd part companies...) all stronger. So important today...

Thanks Eric Young,

a good idea,

maybe I should send it on Thursday/Friday that he could get it about October 14.

Sanjin (Thanks again),

now that Jarred spoke about IMS, we customers sent e-mails to P+S, Erik Birger even asked you to send him your mount so he could look at it...

Maybe it's time now for people at P+S to come here on RED's forum and speak a little :) Wouldn't it be cool?

I know you're gonna talk to them soon. Maybe it would be good to tell them that COMMUNICATE is a good thing. I guess many people here would be happy to read more from them...

Kind Regards,

Rami

9 e-mails and counting...

C'mon guys, we can do it :) info@pstechnik.de

Martin,

I sent email(s) to P+S Technik and Aki Schirmer is reading the forum treads at the moment.

Also they have a national holiday in Germany on October 3rd.
They all will be back on Tuesday, October 7th.

If IMS and Birger really would become a couple than all our wishes would be fulfilled….

Now this threat seems to really moving things a bit….

Jarred, good that you explained few things here… still, few other things are not clear to us:

“If somebody swaps the nikon mount and the upcoming cannon-mount 20 times, and manages not to damage the camera body, We wonder how this abuse will differ from a one-time installation and deinstallation of the IMS mount?”

AND

“If there is NOTHING P&S can do to make it right, let us know and we'll move on immediately. But if there is a glimmer of hope, we may be able to find a way to get P&S back in the game. Tell us what they have to modify…”

Could you please reply to these questions as well, THANKS

I send an email to P&S again

Hey Sanjin, do you know if today October 6th is holiday too? I have something to deal in the north. BTW, I love Germany! -- one the best countries in the world for shooting (and living); everything works there and the people are too much friendly, as well.

Thanks to Erik and Sanjin for looking at the possibilities of adapting the Birger mount to the IMS. That would be very interesting. Being able to go back to PL (and the upcoming RED primes!) without having to unscrew the mounts completely seems like a much safer solution. I will send an email to P&S as well, to see what they can do to work with RED on getting their mount approved.

Emanuel, I'm in Austria, another country but the same language as you know well.

About that October 6th is still holiday in Germany I do not now exactly.

What I've got is that returned email info from P+S Technik.

Best to email or call somebody there (a friend, a travel agency, an airport) and to ask.

The parcel with the IMS EOS adapter mount to Erik for a look up is going to be picked up from my location by Fedex tomorrow, October 7.

Thanks Sanjin. I didn't email them, yet. But if for any reason, they will be approved by Jarred... I will buy. So, Jarred is the man with authority for saying yes or not. That's life. He's the man.
