Hello,

Just had a question, I am getting prompted with "You shutdown the camera improperly" message when I boot the camera up after previously shutting down correctly.
Wondering what the case may be, if it is a firmware, or potentially another issue that some of you may have run into. Not entirely sure, the camera is only two weeks old.

Does this happen everytime? How are you shutting down the camera?

Shooting today it's happened twice, I hold the power button on the brain for several seconds until I am prompted with "Shutting Down"

I was on a shoot last week, working primarily plugged into AC, and almost every time I (properly) shut down the camera, either by holding down the red button on the side or using POWER>SHUTDOWN to unplug and move the camera, I would get the improper shutdown error after plugging back in and starting up.

Running 3.0.0

Okay that is the case with me as well, wanted to make sure I wasn't doing something wrong. I was primarily running AC power, and also running firmware 3.0.0. I will shutdown through the menus to see if this changes. Does anyone know what may be causing this?

I always press the battery percentage text on the LCD touchscreen and it pops up with the shutdown option (saves one step from menu).

Or voltage, in many cases :)

Didn't know that little trick, that's awesome.

OH, I missed that one. Thanks

Coming to think of it, it would be nice if in a future firmware one could get rid off these messages also by pushing the record button. (Great in time-pressed situations and/or when no touchscreen/redmote/sidehandle is attached.)

Thanks!

I also get it all the time. I realize it's just a bug, but I do go back and play my clips out of paranoia, so it is a little anoying.

You guys should not be seeing this error message unless you pull power or hold the power button down too long (which will activate the hard power off). If you are consistently seeing this when powering down through the menus I'd like to see some log files.

... hold the power button down too long (which will activate the hard power off). ...

Hang on. I thought momentary press of side red button went into Record, and long press eventually prompted controlled shut down (with Shutting Down message). So how can we hold the button down TOO long?

I also get it a lot - no matter which firmware release I use - particularly when using the rh record/ power up button - sometimes 70-80% of the time. I have now assigned a SH button to power down which seems to produce far fewer 'improper shutdown' messages.
