Hello, I'm working on a TV show shooting in Newfoundland, Canada right now with three R1-MX bodies on build 30.5.

We're having an issue where sometimes pushing the image zoom button (set to a user key) will cause the camera to stop taking user input entirely and will require a power down to get back to normal.

Has anyone else seen this issue and is there a workaround / solution in the works?

I have the same problem with my none MX only way out is reboot. I think it may be caused by pushing the button twice, ie. 2 pushes instead of one. in quick succession

This issue has been around a while, beginning of the year in my experience. There isn't a solution other than either don't use it or when it happens do what you're doing.

I think is a variation on a very old bug, from around the Build 13 days. It went away for a long time but I've had it again more recently, and not only with MX cameras. For a workaround, and this could be worthless speculation, but I can't remember an occasion where it ever happened when we had it assigned to user button 5 (on the LCD), but only on buttons 1-4.

I've seen it happen very occasionally in older builds. One general thing is to not press buttons in quick succession and to not hit record a micro-second after you zoom out, for example.

But yes, if it's still around then it's definitely a bug that needs to be squashed....

Thanks everyone for the replies. We haven't experienced the bug enough to have narrowed it down to how possibly to avoid it as much as possible - thanks for the help!

I have engineers looking into this. They have requested .log files to be sent to technical support so they can eval. Please submit a support ticket on RED.com/support, attached a .log file, and reference this thread. Thanks!
