Hi,

When I connect my RED ROCKET with my iMac (12,2 - 10.8.2) through a Sonnet Echo Express Thunderbolt Expansion Chassis, my audio output from the iMac goes whacko (cracking noises).
This is both through the speakers as through the headphones.
I have this problem since I upgraded to Firmware v1.1.16.11 & driver v1.4.32.
When I disconnect the Thunderbolt cable, the audio returns to normal.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Hey Mike! Don´t really know much about it, but i´ll try to do a little research. Im about to get the latest iMac, for a very similar setup. So i wanted to ask you... how´s the overall performance with the r3d files? Any advices? Thanks and greetings from Mexico City

Well, don't expect miracles. I'm waiting on the new Mac Pro and hope it will be as amazing a leap as suggested. You will need it.
Playing 4K is kind-off feasible but 5K in real-time is a PITA!
Not trying to disappoint you but it's a fact.

If you want true power, go for the HP Z820s, they are rockets but.... I don't want to switch back to Windows....

Hi Michael, I use the Sonnet and RR with a MacBook Pro. I also have to unplug the Rocket when I am going to concentrate on audio. :/ Maybe it has something to do with the Sonnet?

I had the same issue with OS 8.2, nothing worked right, did a fresh install of 8.3 and everything works perfectly again.

Hi Joseph,
could be but I don't think so as it used to work fine. At a certain point it started and got progressively worse.
on the other hand it could be some part of the Sonnet wearing out... makes sense after all....
I hope Apple will release the new Mac Pro soon!
