so i am doing my first dragon gig without rocket x on my usual high end brand new rMBP...and even shooting only 4khd and encoding only 1080hd prores422LT at half premium its taking forever to encode... just reminds me more why i love my rocket x so much..

mac book pro does not have the graphics card needed for the job, however there are a lot of options that get more then enough speed.

Personally I'm thinking of putting a normal graphics card in my old rocket (not X enclosure) and use that with my macbook air.... I got the Mlogic enclosure... Anyone that knows a suitable card to put in it / that fits and is good bang of the buck?

Sorry to derail the tread.

Bjorn,

I don't think the OS can handle or recognise a GPU on an external box like sonnet or magma. The best mobile solution might be a nMPro and the best studio solution would be a Rocket X in a dedicated machine. Unless you want to build a huge cart, etc.

Are you sure? it seams like the pci slots on such box would work like any other PCI slot, no? And RCXP recognize all GPU's on board I thought? So before I give that thought up I would love to have a firm yes/no on the matter.

No GPU works on Thunderbolt Mac to date.

Hope that day ends soon :)
