  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

If Reduser isn't very active, where is everybody?

Not having any login issues on my side Mark. What error are you getting? We can forward stuff like this to the admin.

Today it took 6 tries to login. Typing carefully, et al it just wouldn't go.

IMO there are too many issues regarding logging in, seeing new posts in order, et al. It has reduced my frequency for visiting the site. I still visit but instead of daily it's more like weekly.

I suspect there are many more that are 'turned off".

Takes me two tries, often I'll just click off after the first, but I wouldn't have ever investigated this site if it had forced me to open a user account just to check it out when I was new.

For me, my browser defaults to an old dead link (http://www.reduser.net/forum/forum.php).
Weird even after I clean the cache it defaults to that old link.
The fix is to click on the FORUM TAB.
I haven't had any issues with my login after a few tries.

Eric,

I still use the same Reduser link from the old site. When the new site came online, I used the old link and it asked me to re-enter my login info. Once I entered my login info Microsoft Edge asked if I would like to save the new login info and I told it to do so. Now when I come to reduser every time it asks for my login info again. Instead of entering anything I just click on the "REDUSER" icon in the top left corner and I'm logged back in.

Yeah I find the new layout distracting. Less engaging. It's like it was designed by a coder, not an end-user. It's made discussions less connected, more frustrating, and harder to follow. I just don't come hear as much it's all not as easy to absorb. I dont go on IG or FB, so in general am less connected.

Yep, I'm of the same mind as Nick.
Don't do social media at all and this use to be my reference for all things RED. Now, it's a water-downed version of itself and the interface is bloody annoying. New posts disappear straight after you read them which is not helpful when trying to refer back to them. Lots of other small problems too, logging in, etc.

In any event, with Jim and Jarred gone, its a bit like Elvis has left the building!

So I have made a custom search link for Reduser in my browser that makes the new site kind of act like the old Reduser for me. I just want to see the newest posts most time, but don't want them to disappear once I view them. I jump around and want to go back and re-read new post all the time.

So, if you click on the "New Post" button you get this SEARCH link in the browser which has the unread_only function.

So I changed my default browser link for Reduser to be this SEARCH.

This uses the search term (date":{"from":"10"} ) instead of unread_only. So now I see all the new posts for the last ten days. If you want more or less days, just change the day value.

For me, I have been unable to browse Reduser very much since the site update, as I use several devices and it now requires a login. I used to be able to casually walk over to a computer at work or on a shoot, and check out the newest posts. Now, since I don't always want to log in, I check much less. It's a little disappointing as I was hoping this forum would come to life again as I and many others recently picked up a Raptor/Komodo.
