Stop it! Stop it! Stop it! It's difficult enough getting to the 3rd of November! What, you took some lessons from lap dancers? Stop teasing! pretty please?

i think im going to need to up my credit limit quite a bit!

I'm pretty sure the lack of sleep is what is helping fuel all of the insanity at RED! Can't wait to see what you guys have cooked up for the 3rd!

November 3rd won't be about what we are working on. It will be about what is done and what we are ready to take orders on. Finally.

Jim

This is why I check Reduser at 4am - love you guys :)

Also, this is why Jarred gets paid the big bucks - it's a tough job, but somebody's go to do it.

What a fun ride this is.

WOW Plenoptic camera technology is exciting for 3D projects and sooo much more

There good news is that everything is upgradeable...

Jim

I wish all CEOs were as giddily enthusiastic about their existing and upcoming products.

The sad thing is that you have now invited people over, it'd be just too rude to spill the beans early. It saddens me to say this, but I'm with Jarred on this one - al those people who booked flights to LA. Doesn't feel like your style.

Still... you could always delete this thread.... Nothing lives forever on the Internet, does it?

Man you make me crazy with all this teasing, but yeah, i come back everyday (multiple times) to just read that. ;) Love the spirit here, so much excitement and enthusiasm.

One thing I will say is that we are working on multiple focus and depth map (think Lytros) but with wicked high resolution... The prototype is incredible. Don't tell Gizmodo or Engadget. :-)

Jim

This is bigger than most underastand. We are fiddeling in the same field using the Kinetix for xbox. Just having a super high resolution depthmatte is just the same as saying bye bye blusescreen... and wellcome to get mattes for anything in a scene. Basically you can create a perfect alpha channel in a certain depth of the scene. For example everthing in between 2 and 5 meters.

Also, having a depth matte to the scene gives the posibility to get super good follow focus. With finger tracking on screen or just to have messuraments painted into the shot and focus manually. In the picutrs where you can see our test within this field we took the depth matte from the kinetix and let it paint red lines on every meter in dept onto the live feed from the camera... thats is not a bad thing to have if you are a focus puller.

Also you can extract high detaild 3D models/ point clouds from the kinetix. And the Kinetix is a toy with way low resolution and cost 100USD in the game shop. I think if RED picks up this thread then it will not be toy resolution and the result will be better.

Another thing possible wheb having a highress depth mattes is that you can change your depth of focus and focus point in post. In other words you can shoot super sharp and then add depth to the shot later and set your focus point later. This is primarily something people scream for when shooting stereo. But also for post reasons and many other things. We are currently selling a software for nuke and 3DSMAX that does post focus with this kind of depth mattes it renders super fast and handles edges, and other things, better than the rest. see: http://www.syndicate.se/Default.aspx?Id=313

Please RED feel free to contact us and we would be happy to implement the code int the next redcineX.

So yes, Put on a IR depth camera underneat the PL mount on the epic and see the competition go bye bye.. It does not have to cost much, if microsoft does it for 100USD for the games then you guys could do a good one for even less.

If the above sound like mumbo bumbo check the pix to understand it a bit better.

Well, Jim...

Now I know you are taking the piss (but in a fun way)… ;)

Translation: “taking the piss”: is UK slang for making fun of someone/ or something…

That’s a classic, when I was ten, the odd mechanical sounding box under the tree (for the past month) was not in fact a “incubator for komodo dragon eggs” but on the day when the paper was carefully removed revealed itself to be a typewriter (for a rather disappointed Dyslexic ten year old kid circa 1980).

Nice One!

[I get it...].

Nice to hear there are “three”.

That’s super and I think EVERYBODY (therefore) will be VERY happy, and as you say, if they are not they probably suck… [interesting marketing ploy btw… but is probably more of an indication how hard you guys have been working… and clearly you have done everything you could possibly do… don’t sweat it. I think come the day EVERYBODY will realize that you guys have been absolutely working your arses off on this one (I understand what it takes), and I just want to say (in advance) THANK YOU so much for all of your efforts, this will make a real difference. Let the good times roll. I do understand that given the amount of time that Scarlet has been on the table that you will have gone to amazing extra efforts to do right and do what makes sense and then some and then a lot more (that’s the kind of guy or “Ethic” that you and RED embody). (That’s ETHIC … not an EPIC with a lisp). I really don’t think ANYBODY come the day (who is more or less in their right mind), is going to be disappointed. Really.

Good luck on the day, not that you will need any...

Cheers,

Eric

[BTW… there is a very good reason why nature did NOT come up with the Plenoptic system...]

P.S. should we transfer funds to be ready on the day?
