  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I want to tell you...

  • the Scarlet Fixed integrated lens/sensor assembly doesn't look very upgradeable to me.
  • the store is out of Redmotes and DSMC side handles. Doesn't seem likely that RED would hold back on shipping backorders for these just to make sure they could be included in Scarlet kits.

Yup, 11311 is a Palendromic prime.Palendromic primes are also called Palprimes.

Does that mean that all three new cameras can use PL (mount) primes?

Have you guys finally made me loose my marbles?

So its the library, there getting the library together and its the sum of powers, I.e. REDONE, EPIC and SCARLET all one platform... sum of powers ...

And they/Jim says there are 3 "others" ... announcements ?

With the new Scarlet being released soon, what does this mean for the RED One? My assumption is that the Scarlet will be a friendlier camera to operate based on my experience with Epic, but still lacking the power and abilities of the RED One. Leaving the RED One a camera with lots of life left. A good example is its been 4-5 years after it's release and there is still no competitors on the market at it's resolution of 4.5k.

So whether you are using the Scarlet, the REDONE or the EPIC you get the power of all three?

(somehow...assuming a common code base, profiles, compression scheme/firmware is an awsome thing to have?)

i.e. even if you buy Scarlet you still "feel" EPIC.

Yes and no…(only a madman can make such an answer).

From other equally and much smarter than I and the hints that there is a very obvious clue buried in the most basic announcement. Actually staring one straight in the face. Jarred and JIM have pretty much been explicitly stating that. But you have to have been crazy enough to watch things reasonably closely over the past couple of weeks, which is crazy enough as it is…

I’ll dig up some bits and pieces. To my mind it depends on how much Graeme has had a hand in all this…

11311 is much more catchy than "rembember NOV 3rd"...

But I have to admit a palindromic prime number is more interesting than chasing endlessly around the mulberry bush attempting to eek out some haggered ratio of $:K:fps:sensor size…

I hope this could be used in combo with a greenscreen for faster roto work? major key is pulled via depth....minor hair key is pulled with a traditional color extraction?
 
Acceleration capture would be another amazing device - wireless connection to 3d apps for "virtual" camera work ....or place "3d" objects in your scene and have them show up on the red LCD so you can frame them live? ohh yea.
 
OMG it simultaneously 3d scans everything while filming that would give jackson - cameron & me a woody

Is it simpler than all that, all three are the same…

I.e. they use the same EPIC (ish) body.

REDONE has its guts upgraded or updated,

EPIC is still EPIC and Scarlet is in the EPIC(ish) Body.

So in terms of hardware,

Scarlet 3k, NEW Redone 4k and 5k EPIC are all in the same body(ish), same code, same accessories (and if need be same lens mount) and so on. So you can upgrade from a Scarlet to a NEW REDONE and upgrade from a NEW REDONE to an EPIC.

Is that too stupid, too simple, too wrong?

(maybe Scarlet is 3.67K or some vaguely useful binnary boundary or not...)

Sorry to bring up the K (monster) but only to illustrate a higher level idea across the board.

In other words the entire line up is completely consolidated onto one EPIC idea…

Received and email notification as had registered for it.
Now you have spoilt the fun? Ha Ha

Its good to be curious? that's how I saw Red at Nab in 2007.

You guys are killing us with all the Redvolutionary technology, and these teases resulting in sleepless nights for me. When do we get to see the prototype.
 
A lot of people are saying Canon acquired Red hence the same date for announcement as in the same products, no back orders, etc... Me on the other hand don't think so i dont see that ever happening... smh
